Okay, I can do this, I thought to myself.
I brushed my dress and walked oved there.
I guess I was a little nervous because I apparently forgot how to walk in my heels, and fell flat on my face.
"You okay?" I looked up to see that same guy that was sitting over at the table.
"Yeah, thanks." He took my hand and pulled me up. "I guess I'm just a little clumsy today."
"I'm Liam," he laughed.
"I'm Brooke. I don't usually come to these things, but my friend dragged me here."
"Yeah, I don't usually come to these things either but I needed to get out of the house. My family is so annoying."
I laughed. "I can relate."
Instantly, I thought of my mom. A small tear escaped my eye, but I quickly wiped it away.
"Here, let's sit," he said, and we sat at the table.

At a time like this, I really needed a friend.
Even though I just met him, I knew he'd become a close friend.
