Twelve.

The next day, Ash was so excited to hear about my night with Liam.

"Did you get his number?" she asked.

"Yes," I laughed. "Even if I didn't, you still drove me home."

"What, you think I'd leave you on the side of the road?"

"Eh," I said, jokingly.

"Shut up," she said, lightly punching my arm.

I started to like Liam more and more.

Not in a romantic way or anything, but as a close friend.

He was a good person to talk to, and laugh with.

A year later, we knew practically everything about eachother.

I'd already applied for colleges, and I really hoped to get in.

I kept doubting that I wasn't good enough for these colleges.

"Brooke, I'm positive you'll get in," Liam said.

"I don't know..."

"Look at me." He put his arms on my shoulders and looked into my eyes. "You're a strong, confident, smart, athletic, beautiful girl, and so much more. Yale would be lucky to have you."

Yale was my dream college, but they only accepted about 6% of the people that apply. I was extremely nervous about my application.

Liam's speech caused me to pull him into a hug.

"How are you so good at knowing what I need to hear?" I asked.

"It's a gift," he said, showing off.

Ding! I got a text.

Jake: Hey! Let's do something tonight. My place at 8?

"Who's that?" Liam asked.

"Just some guy I met at school."

He seemed to get a little mad.

"Are you jealous?" I laughed.

"No," he quickly turned around, but I saw his face get red.

"Awwwwwe!" I said. "Liam's jealous!" I sang.

"Am not!" he defended.

"Okay, I believe you," I said sarcastically.

I didn't like Liam that way. I thought of him as a brother. I knew he thought of me as a sister.

I decided to text Jake back.

Me: Yeah! Sounds great! See you then. :)

Jake was captain of the football team and was really smart. Not to mention his good looks. I loved spending time with him.

I started to fix my hair and makeup, and pick out an outfit. When 7:45 approached, I was finally ready.

"Wow," Liam said. "You look gorgeous."

I blushed. "Thanks."

The doorbell rang, and it was Jake.

I headed for the door until I heard Liam.

"Brooke!" he yelled from upstairs.

I spun around and looked up.

"Bowling tomorrow night?" He asked.

My face lightened up. "Wouldn't miss it," I replied, and headed out.
