Suddenly they heard a loud thump. "Huh? What's that sound?" Annie asked. They heard another thump. "I don't know. It couldn't be thunder." Mark said.
Annie crawled out of bed and walked to her window. She pulled back the curtains...and nearly screamed out loud.
"What?" Mark asked. Annie opened the window. Outside, facing the window was Akida. Akida grunted at Annie. Mark's mouth hung open with shock. Annie tried to stifle a gasp. "How on Earth did Akida get all the way here?" she thought.
"Akida, you prehistoric peabrain! What if someone saw you?! You want to get us into trouble?" Annie shrieked, unable to hold her shock any longer.
"I just wanted to see you, Annie. I miss you so much." Akida said. She then licked Annie's cheek with her big tongue and nuzzled her. Annie's anger then subsided.
She knew Akida missed her a lot. She hugged Akida. "I know. I miss you too, girl. When I'm better, I'll see you again." Annie said, rubbing Akida's snout.
Annie turned to Mark. "Mark, can you take her back to the park?" she asked. "Sure." Mark said. He carefully climbed up Akida's head and sat down. "Come on, Akida. Let's go." he coaxed her. Akida started to walk away from the house.
Annie leaned out the window. "Goodbye, Akida. See you soon." Annie said. Akida looked back at Annie forlornly. "Take care and be good, ok?" Annie said. Akida nodded as she walked back to the park. Annie closed the window.
Akida walked towards the gate when Mark gasped. "Oh, no!" Mark said. "What?" Akida asked. "Jessica Romano." Mark said. Right in front of them, in the parking lot, was Jessica's sleek, white limousine.
Nearby, they saw lights flashing on and off and they can hear loud music. "Looks like Jessica's birthday party." Mark said as he climbed down Akida's head. "Be very quiet. Don't let anyone see you." Mark said. Akida followed Mark quietly through the park gate entrance. Then they saw Jessica, now a pretty 18-year old teen, but still spoiled and mean as ever, wearing a shimmering pink sequin dress, walking towards the entrance with her friends.
"Quick, Akida! Hide!" Mark hissed. Akida headed to the bushes, just before Jessica appeared.
When Jessica saw Mark, her smile vanished. "Ugh! If it isn't Dino Girl's dweeb brother!" she said, disappointed. She walked up to him.
"What do you think you're doing here?" she asked in a not-so-sweet tone. "Well, uh...." Mark stammered. He looked at Akida who was hiding behind the bushes.
"For your information, this is my birthday party. This is a cool zone, and you're not invited. Get that? Not invited!" Jessica said, her voice rising. "No dweebs, geeks, or dummies allowed! Not ever!" she yelled in his ear.
Mark winced. "Capisce?" she asked. Mark rubbed his ear. "Got it." he said. "Now scram." Jessica said, waving a dismissive hand. Mark turned towards the exit and walked away.
He turned around but Akida disappeared. "I hope she doesn't get into any trouble." he thought as he headed back home.
Akida sat there, curious. "What was that all about? Why did she yell at my friend like that?" she said to herself. Then, she smelled a delicious aroma.
That meant only one thing. "Food!" Akida said. She followed the scent to the white tent. There, she saw people dancing. Akida bobbed her head along with the music. Then she heard her stomach growling. She realized she was hungry. Akida then saw the food on the table.
There was a bowl of caviar, a broiled lobster on a silver platter, a bowl of salad, a plate filled with macaroons, and a pile of bags of chips. But her mouth watered when she saw the big, delicious pineapple, smothered with strawberry syrup on top of the fruit tower. She started to move towards the hut. Everybody was so busy dancing to the music; they didn't notice the big hulking figure take the entire cake in its mouth and disappear into the darkness.
A butler walked over to the buffet table to add a strawberry slice but noticed the entire pineapple has disappeared. "Oh? Where has that pineapple gone?" he wondered.
Akida ate the pineapple. Her sharp beak was strong enough to slice through the pineapple's hard layer. She then licked her beak which was dripping with pineapple juice. "Oh, Johnny. You really are so cheeky!" Jessica's voice rang out sweetly. Akida heard her voice and peered through the thick bushes. Jessica was sitting in a park bench, swooning with her boyfriend, Jonathan Fredrickson, the hotshot football captain.
"You know, babe. I think you're the princess of my life, my morning and evening star." Jonathan said suavely. "Oh, please, Johnny. You're really too much." Jessica said, playfully patting him and giggling like a schoolgirl. Akida, curious, peered closer towards the bench.
"No, babe, I'm serious. How about you come swimming with me tomorrow at the pool?" Jonathan asked. "Oh, I'd love to." Jessica sighed dreamily.
The young couple leaned in for a kiss when Jonathan noticed a big shadow creeping over them. He looked up and saw a big orange dinosaur towering over them.
He froze, his mouth hung open in sheer shock. "Oh, my gosh!" he said. Jessica looked at him curiously. "What's the matter, Johnny?" Jessica asked.
Jonathan pointed at Akida with a trembling finger. Jessica turned around and saw Akida looking down at them. "Hi." Akida said. Jessica then screamed at the top of her lungs.
The couple ran off, screaming hysterically. Everyone at the party heard their screams and saw Jonathan and Jessica screaming as they ran in the tent. Gregory stopped Jessica as she ran. "What is it, sweetheart, what's wrong?" he asked.
"B-big....Co...cop...copper...big spikes...big head...!" Jessica was so shook up she couldn't get the words out.
Suddenly, Akida appeared from the tent entrance, looking at the crowd. Jessica looked and screamed, then she fainted dead away. Everyone looked, and then chaos spread everywhere. People started screaming and running for their lives.
