The next evening came and before I knew it I was dressed in a gypsy costume with my normal clothes underneath in case I needed to fight. Tiana was next to me in a peasant sort of costume. We were behind a table serving her hot and sugary pastries to guests when they came by. Charlotte was busy running around making sure she was on everyone's mind while eagerly waiting for Prince Naveen's arrival. And her father was doing as any host would do making sure his guests were having a good time. And making sure his crazy, annoying, bobble headed daughter, was happy too. I had no idea what it was about that girl, but her very presence annoyed me.
Then when all the guests started chattering and getting excited I had assumed the guest of honor had arrived, Prince Naveen. When I could finally see him I recognized him, he was the cheery man who as singing and playing in the streets. But this time something about him seemed different. He seemed a little awkward regardless Charlotte was already all over him, dragging him to the dance floor and for a prince he sure had two left feet. While I was serving Tiana's sweet pastries to the guests I noticed her talking to two men who were also dressed up. One was tall and lean the other short and hefty. I overheard them speaking about her restaurant and that If she didn't give them the money by a certain date the deal was off. It sounded like they pushed up the date on her.
In the midst of Charlotte doing what they call dancing, Prince Naveen lost his footing and bumped into the table causing the punch bowl to fall on Tiana. Charlotte immediately stopped to tend to her friend.
"I just don't have any luck tonight..." Tiana said as she grabbed some napkins.
"Oh Tiana, no, I'm so sorry," Charlotte apologized sincerely.
"It's alright Charlotte, it doesn't matter."
"Of course it does come with me. I got something for you that will make you look like a princess." Charlotte grabbed Tiana by the hand and took her upstairs.
I stayed down stairs to continue serving her guests. I was growing tired around these people...they were just...too much. They laughed at the stupidest things, in my opinion. And they're all fawning over this prince who isn't even acting like a prince. I've seen plenty of princes' and he does not fit the bill. He just seems so socially awkward, and physically awkward. This isn't anything like how he was acting before. But whatever, I was only here to help Tiana. When I thought about it I had realized that Tiana hadn't come back yet, charlotte had already come back, so why didn't Tiana?
I decided to leave to go investigate where she might have been. When I reached to top of the very large staircase I heard voices. One of the voices sounded like Tiana. So, I turned my head to the left and followed the voice into a nearby room. When I looked around the room looked empty. There was a just a simple desk, a standing mirror and two open doors that led to a balcony. Tiana hadn't finally lost her mind, had she? I then heard her voice again, calling out to me.
"Ooh, Ayame! Down here!" When my eyes finally rested on the source of the voice my eyes landed on a frog. A frog who was next to another frog. My body froze as I stared at it, my mouth gaping.
"Have I lost my mind being here too long?" I said aloud.
"No really Ayame, it's me Tiana."
"Well I've seen crazier things..." I said as I walked over and kneeled down to get closer. "Like enchanted objects. What happened?"
"This foolish man," she started as she pointed her webbed finger at the other frog who was just sitting there like he had nothing to worry about with a very high-and-mighty expression on his face. "This foolish, FOOLISH, man crossed ties and messed with the voodoo man and turned me into a frog!"
