"Not bad, Song Yeseul." Said the boy.

"Not bad at all." Said the voice.

But the thing here was that, both the sentences seemed to come from the same person. Realization hit me like a brick, my eyes widened and my breath hitched up to a notch. The boy standing in front was evidently the voice.

The voice that had been inside my head for so long, had suddenly materialized into this boy standing in front of me, smirking all the while as I struggled to register this information.

"I didn't even expect you to be able to follow me this far. I'm impressed." The smirk still hung on his face, and for the first time my ears could hear his voice, unlike some abstract thought he was before in my head. His voice was smooth, slightly on the higher side but with a kind of mellow touch to it.

"How..." Before my head could process more sentences to make, he continued,

"Don't look so baffled now, I'm not going to eat you up or anything. Anyway, sit down," Pointing towards a crate.

As I wobbled towards the crate, he said, "You may have already guessed, yes I'm what you conveniently call 'the voice'. But the truth is, I actually have a name, but let's leave that for later.

"So to say it straight, your mother's in danger."

I was thoroughly confused at that statement, and finding my voice, I said, "What do you mean she's in danger, she's not even alive." My voice now reduced to a whisper.

"Yeseul, the world that you live in isn't the only world that exists, you know that? There's Heaven and then there's Hell. The Dark Forces of Hell are always prowling about on this realm of the Earth, and the weaker you are, the stronger they get.

When you mother died, she was obviously supposed to be sent to Heaven, but the Dark Forces overtook, causing disasters everywhere on the Earth, taking many souls with them, including hers."

He stood up from the crate he was sitting on then moved about a little.

"Fortunately, your family's unbreakable bond and love for her saved her from entering the realms of Hell.

But the thing is, she's stuck in the Limbo Dimension."

We finally made eye contact. I looked at him with questioning eyes, "She died years ago, so why are you bringing this up just now? Wait what's Limbo dimension?"

The boy gave a long sigh, which actually annoyed me.

"The Limbo Dimension is a place between Heaven and Hell, just like Earth, but unlike here, time and space does not exist there. It's a place of an endless loop.

No human has the power to see, let alone go in there by will, but there are some exceptions. And that's where Jungkook comes in."

My eyes widened when he took Jungkook's name.

"What does he have to do with this?"

"You still don't know who Jungkook is? Yeseul, remember the time you went to the graveyard all alone? You lost your way, who helped you then? Jungkook of course."

My expression turned from confusion to utter realization. I remembered the scene clearly now, I was just seven years old then, I had lost my way and Jungkook, barely any taller than me then, had wiped my tears, held my hand and let me through the tombstones, safely outside.

I blushed when all this nostalgia hit me from all sides.

Ignoring that, he continued,

Thanks to your dad's decision of moving to Jeju, we found him again.

The Dark Forces are slowly creeping into Limbo, and we need to get your mother out of there. And Jungkook is the only one who can help."

"But how? What can he do to help me? And will he even help me? I'm no more than a stranger to him."

"That's something that you need to figure out for yourself. All I can do is guide you, and most importantly, make you stronger.

Like I said, the weaker you get, the stronger they get."

You should know that you and Jungkook are in no way ordinary human beings, so you gotta take advantage of that."

He handed me the black book and said, "Don't lose it, I'm hundred percent sure this is gonna come in handy."

As I took the book, I said, "Wait, if we were supposed to meet anyway, why'd you make me chase you."

He shrugged, "There's always time for some fun right. I've got these human legs after so long, so might as well take full advantage of them."

He gave himself a big long stretch and loudly exclaimed, "It feels so good to be back to Earth, hah!"

He started to get out of the alley leaving me behind.

"Hey, wait! You still haven't told me who, or what are you."

"For the record, I'm something similar to an angel, I guess? I mean, look at me shining."

And sure enough he did have this mysterious glow about him, which I hadn't noticed before.

"If you were an angel, what were you doing inside my head, messing it up?"

"Oh, no, I wasn't in your head. You just couldn't see me, that's all.

And by the way, my name's Yugyeom."

With that he turned ahead and exited the alleyway, I ran and turned towards the lane he took, but he had disappeared.

I just stood there for a moment, registering all that was said a while ago. My mom was in danger, did that explain why I got those dreams every night? Or why my dad never seemed to move on?

If saving her was the only way all of us could find peace, I would do it.

There was one big problem though, how in all the realms of the world was I supposed to explain all this to Jungkook?

My thoughts broke off when my phone started buzzing. The caller ID read "Jaebum"

A pang of guilt seared through my entire body when I realized I had left Jaebum at the fair. I quickly received the call. Before I could say anything, his loud voice boomed through my phones speakers.

"Yeseul? Ya,are you alright?"

"Um, yeah, I'm alright Jaebum, I jus-"

"WHERE ARE YOU?"

A few minutes later Jaebum came jogging towards me with a worried expression on his face.

"Here you are, where did you go? I was so worried."

I felt extremely bad for what had happened, but at the same time I needed to survive.

"I'm really sorry. I got distracted and I lost my way, and before I knew it I was outside the gates."

He gave a sigh, "It's alright, you're fine and that's all that matters."

Then taking my hand and holding it for dear life, he broke into a wide smile, "Now let's go back in and have fun!" he tugged at my hand and ran, me dragging my almost lifeless body behind him.
