「Chapter Eight」

Jaebum sure was a kid at heart. After he dragged me back at the fair, he got really excited. His eyes twinkled like the stars which were clearly visible in the night sky.

He wanted me to ride every ride in the fair with him. We went on the bumper cars twice. First with him behind the wheel with me beside him.

He took a particular pair as his main target and throughout the whole ride, he bumped into them really hard, every chance he got. After the ride was over the particular couple looked towards us in disdain but Jaebum just gave an evil grin in return.

The second time was me versus him. And this was even more funnier and amusing than the previous one. It mainly included me bumping his car a lot leading to him crying out loud, 'Why you do this to me Yeseul!' In a overly exaggerated manner making it hard for me to control my laughter.

Everytime he bumped into my car, he shouted out, "You okay, right?" He even went to the extent to block others cars aiming to bump mine. "No, you're not!" He shouted childishly to a particular harmless person trying to have fun bumping into random peoples cars.

I was exhausted after the bumper car ride. We decided to get some food. There were many stalls put up by the local restaurants and Jaebum bought some really tasty prawn salad. After having our fill Jaebum finally had the opportunity to buy me ice-cream whose previous attempts had failed drastically.

As we roamed around the fair, eating our ice-creams, I looked at the Ferris wheel, the various lights attached to each glass cabin looked captivating.

"Jaebum-ah! Let's ride that!" I said excitedly pointing towards the Ferris wheel.

"Uh, that?" He asked uncertainly.

"Wait, don't tell me you're scared of heights?"

"I'm not, I just don't like it that much.."

"Please, just once. I really wanna see what Jeju looks from above. Pleaseee."

"Okay, okay. But let's just be careful." He said his voice shaking a little.

I tried to compress the laughter forming in my throat and hurriedly joined the queue. We waited for a while as the queue was long.

Finally we got into one of the cabins. There were seats on both sides inside. The ferris wheel was really huge so it took a while to get to the top.

As we were ascending, I looked at the ground getting smaller by the second. The lights and the music faded away slowly. I suddenly realized the silence. I was so focused on looking at the scene on the other side of the glass that I forgot that Jaebum was present in there too.

I quickly turned back to see Jaebum huddled in the corner with his eyes closed. That made me laugh. I went towards him and said, "Ya, you okay?"

"I hate you for this."

"Aw, just open your eyes and see. Look outside, everything looks so pretty." When he still didn't, I sat beside him and shook him. "Open you eyes!"

He slowly opened his eyes and looked around. We were already at the top now and everything looked so beautiful. You could see the sea on the left and the clump of trees which surrounded the fair. The sky glowed a deep blue. I held my breath as I saw as these sights.

I looked at Jaebum's side to see him intently looking out, his mouth hanging open, obviously taken away by the view.

We didn't talk till the ride was over, obviously shaken up by the beautiful view.

As soon as we came out, Jaebum said, "That was so awesome!"

"All thanks to who? You weren't even wanting to come in the first place. Now you know, right?"
