Suddenly the concrete of a street adjacent to them, collapses and then Kyo yells out to chase "you idiot, save those people before they get hurt!" Chase then dives down and catches the people before they fell Into the fiery depths.
Chase, mild to severe burns and all, carried the two people he had managed to save, and set them down. Then walked over to Kyo and said softly and in a creepily guttural tone, "WHAT was the big idea?!?! Having ME, put my life in danger for THEM?!?! The humans have NOTHING to favor me or any vampire for that matter! So, why should I help them?"
"It was your choice. You could have said no. There must be a good man somewhere in a remote far-off part of that head of yours." Alix said marveling at the fact that chase hadn't thought of it himself. Chase turned to himself and said to himself "God must have a sense of humor. Putting me through all of this and now this. Saving the people that nearly killed my brother." Alix, hearing this, then said adamantly "God does not have a sense of humor, whatever he has done to you, he has a reason."
