Chapter 11 - Love Triangle.
Vicky's POV
I sat in my seat for lesson, Abby and Emma on either side. Christie sat opposite me. Her face was lit up with happiness.
"So was there any fireworks?" Abby asked Christie, they were talking about her and Brett's new found realationship.
"It was like Bonfire night." She beamed, her smug grin covered her face.
What a bitch! That should be me.
"Omg really? You are soo lucky. Do you think he's the 'one'." Abby squeaked, excitment was written all over her.
"Maybe." Christie smirked.
This is getting so annoying. "Come on it's just a guy!" I shout everyone around me jumps in the seats.
"Jeez Vicks -" Abby says, I don't listen to the rest. I start to daydream.
(Daydream)
My mum stops the car. Outside I can hear the sounds of children playing, a girl starts to scream. "I don't want to go!"
Mum gets out of the car and opens the door next to me.
"Come on, honey. We're here." She smiles undoing my seatbelt and picking me up from my seat.
"I don't want to." I whisper clutching my teddy, Mr Hopper.
"It's okay, you can meet new friends." she assures me.
I smile back. "Friends?"
"Yeah, lots." She grins. I look away for Mum's face, there's a small building it has a raibow painted on the front, the sun reflected across the rainbow making it look shiny and above the door is a big sign that reads:
"St Mary's Nursery - A place for your little angels to play and learn."
Mum takes me inside the building, there's lots of children playing with toys. On the walls are posters of different types of animals; cows, pigs, cats, dogs, horses, goats, ducks, geese and giraffes. On the farthest wall was a massive clock.
Mum places me on the floor, I grip her leg. A woman approaches us, she wore a blue polo. Her flame red hair was pulled back in a pony tail.
"Hi my name's Janet, I'm head carer at St Mary's Nursery." The woman says, looking back and forth from me and Mum.
"Go on, honey." Mum nudeds me "Say hello." I walk forward a little still clutching Mr Hopper.
"Hello, my n-name is Victoria." I say nervously.
"Hello Victoria." The woman named Janet smiles "Do you want to play?" I nod weakly. "Come with me then, to play." She puts her hand down for me to hold. I take it slowly. She starts to pull me away.
"Mummy!" I squeak, looking back at my mum she was waving at me, her eyes red and puffy.
"It's okay, she'll be back before you not it." Janet said.
Janet takes me outside where the noise of screaming can be heard. Children on trikes and playing in a sand pit looked up at Janet, they went silent.
"No need to stop play my darlings." She smiles to them all. They start playing and screaming again. "Now Victoria," Janet looks down at me. "go and play." She then walks off, leaving me alone.
I start to walk slowly around the edge of the play ground trying to keep my distance from the screaming children, Mr Hopper squeezed against my fast beating heart. I find a dark corner and sit there. I look around at the scary, screaming children and start to weep into the soft fur of Mr Hopper.
"Don't cry." A voice says. I look up, it was a boy he looked down at me.
"Go away." I shout.
"Not until you stop crying." He huffs.
"Please go away." I sob.
"It's okay I won't hurt you. I was like you on my first day." He smiles
"You were?" He nod his head violently. He hold out his hand.
"Come with me I know a better place than here." He said, I take his hand and he starts taking me across the play ground, where the noise of the scraming was loudest. I hugged the now damp Mr Hopper.
We finally made it across the play ground to another corner. In front of it was a smiling clown the size of most children here. It towered over me. The boy moved the clown to one side, revealing a hole on the iron green fence. The boy looks back at me, his smile at me then places a finger over hi lips.
"You go first." He says pointing to the hole. I shook my head. "Okay I'll go first, you follow." He duck down to crawl into the hole. I looked around, unsure whether to follow or not. I finally decide to follow.
Crawling into the hole, mud dusted my hands. Mr Hopper was infront while I pushed him forward. Once on the other side I stood up brushed myself down and picked Mr Hopper. I looked around I was in a woods, the light stopped by the trees above. The boy was nowhere to be seen, which made me scared. Is there a monster in the woods? I walked carfully trodding on the twigs under my feet. I looked over my shoulder every couple seconds, my heart pounding hard against my ribs.
"Boo!" The boy shout jumping from behind a tree. I jump so hard I fall onto the floor. I felt tears welling in my eyes. "Sorry." The boy said quickly seeing my expression "I didn't mean to."
He help me up then grabs my hand.
"I've got a club house." He smiles. Pointing to a set of chairs underneath a piece of wood. In two of the chairs were a chatting pair of girls. We walked over to them and I sat on a chair away from the girls.
"Who's that." The smallest girl asked, pointing at me.
"This is..." The boy looks towards me. "What is you name?"
"I'm Victoria." I whisper
"Victoria? That's a long name. I'll call you Vicky." The tallest girls smiles
"Vicky!" The boy shouts putting his hands in the air.
"I'm Emma," The tallest girl says. "This is Abby and he is Brett."
"Welcome to our gang." Brett says hugging me.
"I like you." I kiss him on the cheek.
(End of daydream)
"Vicky? Vicks?" Emma waves her hand in front of my face.
"What?" I snap
"Lessons over. You coming for lunch?" Her face looked concerned.
"Yeah. Yeah." I reply expressionless.
Why couldn't life stay like that. Me, Abby, Emma and Brett. Or even just me and Brett. Not Christie.
That cow. If it wasn't for me, she wouldn't even know Brett.
