Moving In With The McDonoughs (a Before You Exit Fanfiction)

Chapter 24

Connor's POV:

I woke up with my alarm ringing. Stretching, I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I headed out of my room when something very colourful on my door caught my eye. There was something stuck on my door. A note? I looked over at Riley and Toby's doors and smiled. There was only one person who would leave us three notes: HALEY. I took mine down and grinned at the cover. It had "GOODNIGHT, CONNOR!" written on it in colourful letters with a huge smiley face at the bottom. I opened the fold. There was a letter inside. I sat on my desk chair to read it.

Letter:

Hey Conrad! :D

You know, I felt EXTREMELY bad that you guys had to find out about me leaving the way you did but... half of it really was Riley's fault. Yeah, I caught you guys red-handed while your little 'snooping' session and I also know that Riley's the ONLY one who would plan such a thing! Yup! I have my own James Bond moments. Ooorr you could blame the steel lamp posts for that. Hehe! :D Umm... I just wanted you to know that everything that you, your parents, Riley, Toby, Braiden and Thomas did for me was seriously the most ANYONE has ever done for me. NO joking there! I couldn't wish for anything more except... That I would've gotten to spend more time with you guys. Since you guys DID find out about me leaving, I think you should know the WHOLE truth about it. The truth is that I not only was leaving but I... Umm... I leave... Or by the time you would've read this, I'd already have left. I can just imagine your face upon reading this but I'm really sorry that I didn't tell you guys personally because I really couldn't! I hope you're not mad at you're parents because I'm the one who had stopped them from telling you guys so if you want to be mad at anyone, it would be me. In a chance to ask for your forgiveness, I have left something in my room for each of you and I hope you like it! :) I'm really going to miss you, Connor. :'( 

Well, I didn't think I'd have to say this but... bye.

I had no idea that tears were streaming down my face till they hit the paper and I quickly wiped them off the paper and my face. I hastily got up from the chair and stumbled for balance. All my energy seemed to have left me. Upon regaining it, I burst into Riley's room. 

"RILEY WAKE UP!!" I shouted at him as I tug on the blinds to open them. Morning light streamed onto his face, making him groan and he pulled his blanket onto his face, which I pulled down. I let out a louder groan and half opened his eyes. 

"What?" I mumbled angrily in his heavy morning voice. 

"HALEY'S GONE, THAT'S WHAT!" I shouted and his eyes popped open and he jolted into a sitting position.

"WHAT?!?" he shouted-asked.

"You heard me!" I said, running to his door, tearing off the note and shoving it into his face. I left him to read his note while I went next door to wake Toby up. His reaction was a little worse than Riley's. He jumped out of bed and I had to hold onto him so that he would relax and when I gave him his letter, Riley came in, mirroring the expression I had a while ago. I made eye contact with him and gave him my special 'big brother' hug. We pulled apart at the sound of crying... Toby. We both sat on his bed with him and hugged him from each side. We couldn't believe it!

She... Was... Gone.
