The Binge Eater

Leaning against a wall precariously, Dipper tapped his foot on the dirt floor impatiently. He'd been waiting on Pacifica for the past fifteen minutes. Where the hell was she? Or did she just not feel like showing up? Alas, it wouldn't be the first time one of the preteen's dates had gone down the toilet. When he was in fifth grade, Dipper had organised a date with a new girl at his and Mabel's school back in Piedmont. She had kindly accepted his offer for a milkshake after school one night, just to not show up when the day came. Her excuse had been that she had had family issues to deal with, but it later emerged that Mabel had seen her shopping at the mall that very evening. Dipper sighed heavily. Of course she wouldn't show. He had been stood up. AGAIN. However, as the heartbroken tween turned to leave the arranged meeting point, a soft, feminine voice reached his ears, catching his attention.

"Where're you going? I thought we arranged to meet here at six for a bite to eat."

Behind him, in a short purple dress and fuzzy brown ankle boots, stood Pacifica Northwest. The apricot hues of the setting sun caused her bleach blonde hair to glimmer brightly. "Did you think I'd forget our little 'arrangement'?" She giggled.

Dipper raised his arm behind his head and laughed. "Heh, sorry...Anyways, you're here now! Let's go get some food, I'm starved. The food here is amazing!" He grinned ecstatically as he escorted her towards the doors of a small diner in the centre of the town.

"Yes...the food here certainly does seem appetising..." Pacifica smiled as she leant into his shoulder. Dipper felt himself blush intensely, the heat radiating from his cheeks almost hot enough to roast marshmallows.

Within twenty minutes or so, the young couple were chatting away, supposedly enjoying a luscious meal. For Dipper maybe, he was chomping down the hamburger steak he had ordered. Pacifica on the other hand, had barely touched the small triangle sandwiches on the plate before her. Dipper noticed this but decided not to touch on this quizzical point just yet. Instead he tried to lighten the somewhat subtly eerie environment.

"So...I noticed in Greasy's Diner you were reading one of the books by Cadbury Che...they're my favourite author..."

Pacifica looked up from the plate in front of her, an innocent, fragile smile edging across her features. "Ah, yes...their writing does have a certain charm to it, does it not? What's your favourite novel?"

Dipper temporarily paused in thought then suddenly burst out. "It has to be the debut novel! The writing was...superb!" Paz brought her hand to her mouth to stifle a chuckle. "Mine too!"

The twelve year old boy grinned brightly. "We are so alike! It-it-" He was cut short by sudden choking strains in his throat, causing him to cough violently. Pacifica glared at him with intense worry on her face. "Are you okay Dipper?"

He nodded, straight faced. "Hey, you haven't touched much of that sandwich have you?" Dipper found himself saying without thinking. He clearly touched a nerve though. Pacifica sat back, looking suddenly depressed. "I-I'm on a diet." She declared monotonously. Getting to her feet, she pushed her chair in. "Excuse me...I have to use the bathroom..." Then she hurried away swiftly.

In her absence, Dipper cursed to himself. How could he have been such an idiot?! Well, he'd just ruined his chances with yet another girl...at least this one had actually shown up...surely that was a good thing, right?

Later after Pacifica had returned from the bathroom, the two had paid for their food and left. "Well, thank you for an amazing night...I guess this is goodbye...so...call me?" Dipper asked curiously. Pacifica looked at him and beamed, then her face fell. "Actually Dipper, I was thinking, could you possibly walk me home? I live near where all the recent ghoul activity has been taking place and it scares me..."

The intrigued boy nodded. His so-called 'mystery drive' set in. Maybe he could find out some more about the ghouls attacks or even see one!  Well, that and he didn't want his date to become literal human mincemeat. "Of course! It'd be my honour to escort you home." He consented, desperately attempting to conceal his pure excitement.

They walked for some time before reaching a forked road. "It's down here." Pacifica indicated to the underpass on their right. As Dipper escorted Pacifica down the darkened subway, two students passed by the crossroads. Although, neither Dipper or Pacifica noticed them. One of the them, a girl in a teal flannel shirt, stopped and watched, her soft green eyes watching intently. "Is everything okay Wendy?" Wendy Corduroy looked over to see her friend Nate waiting impatiently. "Er, yeah...sure..." she turned back to her friend and walked off.

"Well this is me!" Pacifica announced loudly. She took his hand smiling. "Erm, Pacifica, listen...I really like you and I was wondering if you...can we...maybe...only if you want to...meet up again?" Dipper stammered, dumbfounded by her beauty. "Why yes! I'd love to! Because you see Dipper, I feel like you understand me, more than any other I've ever met. You've opened my eyes to so much...and I feel...that I like you too..." She embraced him tightly. Dipper blushed again. A wave of euphoria passed through him. This was cut short however, by the appearance of a swirling reddish-black mist. Pacifica's glorious ice blue eyes glazed over deep, midnight black, her irises becoming a piercing crimson red. Then, without any further hesitation, she bit into his shoulder, tears streamed down Dipper's face.

"Mhmmmm...has anyone ever told you how good you taste?"

Four long, red tentacle-like kagune exploded from the base of her spine. Dipper stumbled back in horror, breathless. He clambered to his feet, weakened by the shoulder injury he had sustained and ran.

"Hey where do you think you're going?! I haven't finished playing with you yet!" Pacifica laughed maniacally. "Nowaynowaynowaynowaynowaynoway!" Dipper splurged out loud in one slurred line of speech. Something seized his ankle, dragging him back towards the hungry ghoul, kicking and screaming. Pacifica impaled Dipper through the side, blood bursting out from the measly human's body like a popped water balloon. She was enjoying herself but she did wish he would keep still, it would make his death a lot quicker! But on the other hand, it was much more entertaining watching his pathetic attempts to escape. With a quickened shove, she threw him with some force at a concrete wall which crippled and smashed open from the impact. Dipper once again weakly pulled himself up and tried to run, but as he did so, another agonising sharp pain tore through his body. Pacifica twisted all four of her kagune into one long tentacle and violently stabbed it through his chest, piercing the boy's heart. She left him gasping for air and rapidly losing consciousness. He finally blacked out.

"Aww, dead already? You ruined my fun! I was just starting to enjoy our little game! Oh well, you'll still be delicious!"

Then came the creak. Before the ghoul could react, a ton of steel girders fell from above and crushed her. "W-whyyy?" she moaned as her eyes returned to their normal shade and her kagune retracted.

As for Dipper, who was as good as dead at this point, he waited for the sweet release of death, but it did not come. Instead, he could hear the rhythmic bleeping of a heart monitor. And something felt different. Very different.
