Chapter 5
"Addie, do you want to go to the shopping center with me?" My mom asks just as I get home from school.
"I actually have plans tonight." I smile. I rarely have plans on a Friday night, unless I am babysitting or going to the coffee shop to study.
"Addie Marie!" My mom gasps with surprise. "Did you make friends? What are you doing?" She smiles and folds her hands together with excitement.
"I'm going to a party, my friend Max is picking me up at eight."
"Max, like a boy? Does he like you? Details, now!"
"No, he's just a friend mom!" I whine. I knew she would have a field day when I told her. "I'm probably not going to stay long, I just want to see what people do here.."
"I'm proud of you kiddo." She smiles.
"It's just a party, mom." I roll my eyes. "But I'm going to go get ready." I dismiss myself and go up to my room.
I have a feeling all of the girls there are going to be dressed up and have their hair and makeup done to perfection. I'm not nearly as pretty as the girls at my new school, so I actually have to try. I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard though, so I decide on some skinny jeans and a tank top. I'll most likely end up putting on a sweater, but for now, I look pretty good. I touch up my hair with the curling iron and put on a little more mascara before I decide I look half way decent.
I'm actually a little nervous though, I have no idea what to expect. Max said we can leave whenever I want to though, so that comforts me a little.
Just as I spray myself with my favorite perfume, my phone vibrates on my side table with a text from Max saying he's here to pick me up. My stomach fills with nerves, and I try to convince myself it will be fun.
"Okay, bye mom!" I wave as I leave the house.
"Bye sweetie! No drinking or drugs! No sex! Be safe and make sure to stay with your friend the whole time!" She yells out to me.
I roll my eyes and laugh as I walk outside into the cool air. I'm just glad my dad is working late tonight, because I know he would have a much more serious set of rules for me. He enjoys the fact that I would much rather stay at home and study on a Friday. He's very overprotective, but I can't blame him; I'm his only daughter, his only child for that matter. He's just doing his job.
"Wow, Addie, you look great." Max smiles as I get into the passenger seat of his car. I can't help but blush with his compliment.
"Thanks." I smile. I would tell him he looks good too, but I feel awkward. He really does look good though. "So where is this party at?" I begin to make small talk.
"It's at Liam Payne's house."
"Oh, he hangs out with Harry, right?" I think he was with Harry and Louis that day I met them.
"Yeah, I don't know why though." Max chuckles and I join in. I don't understand how anyone would want to hang out with Harry. He's a jerk.
"Well here it is, are you ready?" We pull up to a pretty large home only a few minutes away.
There are a ton of cars parked along the street in front of the house, and it makes me much more nervous thinking about all of the people that will be here... Including Harry.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I mutter and get out of the car.
"We don't have to stay for very long." he offers and I nod in appreciation. I need to at least experience a little of this party before I go running back home.
