Michael closed his laptop when he finished up a new chapter to the sequel of his first published book. He placed it down next to him and got up, checking the time. He had to go pick up the kids in forty-five minutes and Luke would be home in an hour.
He walked into the kitchen and looked through the fridge and freezer, ending up with picking frozen pizza. He pre-heated the oven and put some extra toppings on them before placing them in the oven and setting a timer.
Michael plugged in his iPhone into their kitchen speaker and pressed play on Me Too by Meghan Trainor(my jam). He started humming the lyrics and dancing around the kitchen. It got lonely when he was home alone all afternoon so Michael always filled the house with loud music after getting some work done.
The music cut out causing Michael to jump in his spot. He was getting a phone call so he hurried over to the speaker and unplugged his phone from the speaker.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Hey, Mikey!" It was Ashton. "What are you guys doing tomorrow?"
Tomorrow was Saturday. Michael thought for a moment. "Nothing, I don't think, why?"
"Do you and the kids want to come for a barbeque? We can get one in before the snow comes, it was Calum's idea," Ashton said.
Ashton ended up getting together with Calum a few years after Luke and Calum had their thing. Calum apologized many times and soon Michael forgave him, he knew they were young and foolish anyways. Calum and Ashton had a family just like Luke and Michael and their kids were around the age of theirs. Their families were close together and always hung out.
"I'll talk to Luke about it but I'm sure we'll show up. But I have to go, my pizza's are ready," Michael said, holding the phone between his shoulder and ear.
"Alright, see you then!" And then Ashton hung up.
Michael took the pizzas out of the oven and turned off the stove. He then grabbed his phone and was out the door to pick up his kids.

"Ashton invited us to a barbeque tomorrow," Michael said at supper, after swallowing a bite.
"Did he?" Luke asked, looking across the table at Michael.
Michael nodded.
"Can we go? Can we go?" Andrew asked, bouncing up and down in his chair. "I want to see uncle Ashton!"
"Uncle Ashy! Uncle Ashy!" Amelia sang from her seat.
Luke chuckled softly. "Yeah, of course we can."
"It would be nice to get out of the house," Michael said, standing up and collecting the dishes.
Luke hurried to Michael. "I'll do the dishes, Kitten, you help Andrew with his homework."
"Alright, love," Michael said, quickly kissing Luke's cheek before walking over to Amelia.
He picked her up after wiping her hands and mouth and brought her into the living room.
"Here, sweety, you watch cartoons for a little bit and then we'll give you a bath, alright?" Michael said, placing her in front of the tv.
She was already too into the tv to answer Michael, causing him to chuckle. Michael walked back to Andrew and sat next to him as he pulled his homework out of his backpack.
"What's today's homework, buddy?" Michael asked his son.
"We're learning to tell time, I have to finish these clocks," Andrew said, showing his dad the worksheets.
Michael helped his son while Luke smiled at them from the kitchen. Luke was so happy with his life right now and never in his life did he picture he would have such an amazing family. He wouldn't exchange it for anything.
