sammy left a few hours after hanging out and i looked at the time and saw that it was getting late. i bit down on my lip.
"tryna figure out if you should go home?" nate asked me as if he was reading my mind.
i nodded. "yup." i said popping the p.
"i think you should." he told me.
i furrow my eyebrows. "why?"
nate shrugged. "that's your pops mia. he took care of you when your mother left right?" i nodded. "i don't want to come between that."
i sighed running my fingers through my hair, pushing it back. "i know, it's just that sometimes he doesnt get it. you should've heard the things he was saying to me." i frowned. "he basically called me a slut for hanging out with you."
nate pressed his lips into a thin line and nodded. "i would say stop hanging out with me but i don't want that."
"i don't want that either." i quickly said after him.
nate's lips grew into a smile as he stared up at me.
"so, um," i coughed. "what were you going to tell me earlier? before the boys came."
nate tilted his head displaying a look of confusion on his face. he soon realized what i was talking about and shook his head. "nothing, doesnt matter really."
"you sure?" i ask, not believing him. "you said you were scared."
he shook his head. "not anymore."
"does it have something to do with mary jane?" i question.
it took nate a while to answer. "in a way."
i nodded even though i didnt quite fully understand but after what happened last night, i don't want to push him.
"i think i'm gonna head home." i told nate.
he looked up at me with sad eyes but he nodded. "okay mia."
"i'm going to have swazz check on you and make sure you're okay." i leaned down, kissing his cheek. "goodnight skate."
"bye mia." he grinned, watching me go.

i sighed knowing i was in for a world of hell whenever i walked inside. i walked up my porch and took out my keys.
i furrow my eyebrows when my key doesnt fit. "what the hell?" i mummer, trying over and over again. frustrated, i groan and give up, knocking on the door. "bryan?! dad?!" i yelled and kept knocking.
moments later the door opened, revealing my dad. "hello, mia. get inside."
"why doesnt my key work?" i ask.
"i changed the locks." he said simply, shutting the door.
i stared at him confused. "why would you do that?"
"since you want to disobey my rules, extreme measures had to be done." he said as if the were the most normal thing to do. "you want to see nate, fine, but you won't be allowed back inside the house, nor is anyone allowed in. only bryan and i have a key."
i scoffed. "you're kidding right?"
"you brought this on yourself mia."
i shook my head. "unbelievable. if mom was here you wouldn't even act like this."
"well your mom isn't here mia!" he snapped. "if she was, she wouldn't have cared about what i've done, let alone you."
my breath hitched and my heart twisted itself. dad has never talked to me this way. what is going on? i was left speechless.
"go on up to your room mia. goodnight." he said briefly before leaving me alone in the hallway.
i sigh and make my way up the stairs when i feel my phone buzz in my hand. i smile once i see that it's a goodnight from nate. i decide it's best to withhold this new information from nate right now because i don't want him to freak out and plus i need to figure it out for myself.
