Okay, so part one will not be that long, its almost like an introduction to the past, then i will skip to the part when she is in high school.:)  But enjoy this chapter!

I woke up the next day hoping that I would get sick in class and be able to go home again. Then my alarm sounded. I turned around to turn it off. It read-

                                       05/26/03   6:30 a.m.

I just couldn’t wait until the school year was over, two months without Roy! But sadly we still had a month left. Oh well. But at least we weren’t in the middle of the year because then that would really suck.  So I got up and got ready.

When mom dropped me off at school, Samantha was there waiting for me. She was wearing her little red bow with her red uniform shirt and black skirt.

“Hey best friend! What’s up?” I yelled

“Oh not much. Just waiting for Roy, you know.” She said with a cocky grin. Ugh! I hated that she had a crush on him! It was just so annoying. But anyways, I didn’t care if she was my best friend. I was going to tell her that he got on my nerves.

“Hey Samantha, there’s something I have to tell you.”  I said while messing with my sleeve.

               “Yeah? What is it?”

“I don’t really like Roy that much. He annoys me.”

“What!? But he’s awesome! And I think he likes me and I like him.”

“Yeah, I don’t. So can you tell him to hang out with someone else?”

“Umm………………………NO! I finally like someone and you don’t approve him! I don’t think we should be friends! Bye.” She yelled at my face and left.

That went well. Now who was I supposed to hang out with? I only had 5 minutes before the bell rang so I could find a new friend. I turned to Samantha and she went with Cassie. Cassie Ubierta is one of the popular girls in 4th grade. We all used to be friends in kindergarten until we got to the high grades of elementary. I hated that.

Anyways, I saw this lonely girl, Melinda Castillo. She moved in about three months ago and she hasn’t had a single soul talk to her. I felt bad for her so I thought she could probably be my friend. I just hopped that she spoke English since she came from Mexico.

“Hi! My name is Selena Roberts.” I said with a friendly smile.

“Um, hi.” She replied in her shy Hispanic accent.

“You mind if I sit next to you?”

“Uh, not at all. Do you even know who I am?” She said with a weird gesture on her face. I didn’t know why she was asking me that. Probably because no one has ever spoken to her before, she wanted to make sure it was real.

“Of course I do! You’re Melinda, right?”

“Oh, okay. I was just wondering. Y porque me hablas? Que no soy muy rara?”
