“Star? Is this one yours?” I asked, feeling my lip curl into a smile.
“Selena! Hi! Yes, he’s mine!” Star yelled coming out of the kitchen. You could tell right away that she has been stressed. She had bags under her eyes. She wasn’t old, but she had an age and she was starting to look older than what she already is.
“He’s adorable!” I told as she closed in for a hug.
“It’s been such a long time! You look so big!” She had a smile on her face that was too joyful; it made me laugh.
“You sound like grandpa,” I chuckled a little loud for Stacy to hear me.
“You two in the living room?” Stacy yelled from upstairs. Star was looking at me with a worried look.
“I’m gonna go upstairs to say hi to Stacy,” I gave her a smirk but she grabbed my hand, exactly like Jake did.
“Are you okay? Has mom been treating you well? Cuz if not,” she took a breath and let go of my arm, “I’m going to have a talk with mom.”
“I’m fine, really. Just a bit tired.” I smiled and ran upstairs, leaving Star with a worried look.
“Stacy? Where are you?” I yelled once I entered mom’s room.
“She’s in the bathroom,” said a handsome man, with light brown hair that matched his golden eyes. He stretched a hand out to me, “Hi, I’m Derek. I’m your sister’s fiancé.” I looked at him shocked. My sister is getting married? When was she planning on telling us? This was wonderful news! Then I noticed his hand in front of me and a shook his hand as I came back to Earth.
“Hi, my name is Selena,” I said with a calm smile. He smiled back and knocked at the restroom door where Stacy was. “Hurry up babe! Your sister is out here!”
“I’m coming! I just can’t find my khaki jeans!” Stacy said through the door, making Derek scowl.
“Why the hell do you need your khaki jeans? Just wear your blue ones!” Derek’s scowl was deepening with anger.
“Umm, I’ll just wait in the kitchen with my mom and Star,” I said glaring at his chest. I bet he worked out a lot.
“What are you looking at?” He glared at me with anger.
“Sheesh! Rude much?” I replied and turned around without another word.
