Ashlee's phone illuminated the dark room with its bright screen. The night was still, and quiet. With the deft movement of her fingers, the brunette woman had pulled up a Doctor Who episode, featuring Christopher Eccleston. "Alright," she breathed, "Let's see what I'm getting myself into."
In a few days, Ashlee Davis would be auditioning for the role of 'companion' in BBC's show, Doctor Who. If she got the role, she could act alongside the new Doctor, David Tennant. She could make a name for herself finally.
The episode she was watching was called 'Rose'. By now, Ashlee was at the opening credits, the retro theme song playing in the background.
To be honest, Ashlee was scared out of her mind. With this audition, she could either win the jackpot or crush her very hopes and dreams.
That's why she was watching Doctor Who for the first time, to see what she needed to live, well act, up too.
After somewhere around forty minutes, the episode was finished, and Ashlee had been lulled into a half asleep state, muttering, "Not too shabby, not too shabby." Then the hopeful young actress fell asleep.

Ashlee awoke to the sound of a dog barking, and yawned sleepily, brushing the brown hair out of her face. "Good morning starshine, the earth says hello." She said in a fake cheery voice, still weighed down by the sleep she had just awoken from.
Humming the Doctor Who theme song, which she had worked on memorizing last night, Ashlee got out of bed and got ready for the day. One day till auditions.
She planned relaxing and watching more Doctor Who episodes today, in order to prepare.
Because of her relaxed schedule for today, Ashlee simply wore her hair in a ponytail, and pulled some sweatpants on. Ready to roll.
Then the actress checked her phone. She frowned, no texts or emails, which was odd. Her friend Laney always managed to blow up her phone in some form or fashion.
After looking through her contacts in order to text Laney, Ashlee discovered that the number didn't exist anymore. Neither did her brother's number, or her mom's number.
Ashlee's other friend, Richard, also was missing from the face of the planet.
However, the phone did ring, causing Ashlee to jump. No one ever called her!
"Hello?" She asked, holding the device to her ear.
"Ashlee? You're supposed to be at work! Where on earth are you?" a feminine voice hissed.
"Who is this?"
The person on the other end was silent, but only for a few seconds.
"What do you mean? It's me, Rose! Your best friend? Coworker? Fellow human?"
Ashlee raised an eyebrow, "Haha Laney, very funny! Just because I tell you I'm gonna watch Doctor Who doesn't mean you can prank call me like this."
"Who's Laney? And... what's Doctor Who? Look Ashlee, you're going to be late for work, and I really don't have time for this-"
"So this isn't Laney...?"
"No..."
"Okay fine. Where do I work again?" Ashlee sighed giving up. What the heck, she would show up on time for the job she didn't know she had.

The taxi pulled up in front of the shop where Ashlee 'worked'. She was only here because she wanted to know what the heck was going on.
The actress hopped out and payed the driver, before going into the clothes shop.
A young blonde woman walked up to her, embracing her. "Knew you'd make it eventually lazy bones!" She said smiling.
Ashlee stiffened. It couldn't be... could it? Billie Piper? THE Billie Piper?
"Um... are you Billy Piper?" Ashlee finally asked out loud.
The woman stepped back confused, "No, it's me, Rose Tyler." Rose Tyler said, shaking her head.
Alarms were going off inside Ashlee's head. What on earth was going on?!?
Twirling around, Ashlee got a full view of the shop. Everything was as it should be, from the piles of shirts to Rose's hair. Everything was as it was in the episode of Doctor Who Ashlee had watched last night.
Could it be? Was she really in a world where time travel was possible, and aliens among humans was a normalcy?
But how? How could this happen?
Her head still spinning, Ashlee turned to Rose. "Okay, so um tell me, since I have a bit of a hangover," Ashlee lied easily, "What exactly do I do?"
The actress gestured to all the clothes.
Rose chuckled, "You were drunk for the first time and I didn't get to see it?" She then handed Ashlee a bundle of clothes. "If you could fold these, that would be fantastic."
When preparing for her audition, the actress hadn't let herself consider the possibility of getting the role. She didn't want to let herself get her hopes up. Now? Ashlee would get the role of companion, all right. Indubitably.
Ashlee walked away with the clothes muttering to herself, "Welcome to the Whoniverse."
This was just the beginning of her new life.
