It was a cold December morning, and a cool blanket of mist was hovering over the quiet town next to the sea. It was still dark out, and I wrapped my jacket tighter as I hurried down the damp street. I was headed to my grandmother's to stay the week due awful arguments my parents had been proned to having lately.

I have to say, with my mother crying in the bathroom every night alone, it's practicly unbearable for me to stay around. Unbearable to hear my mother's soft, muffled breaths through the door every night as tears roll down her cheeks and into small, shimmering puddles on the floor.

It's all my father's fault. He doesn't work, he just gets drunk every night and comes home only to yell at my mother who worked all day, earning her pays from being a house maid, and so I left. There isn't enough money to feed all of us anyways, and on top of it all, I have a secret that only in my worst nightmares would I tell my father. He would kill me for sure.

Suddenly I stopped, for I saw the most beautiful boy in all of creation walk across the street directly in front of me. He had dirty blond hair and magnificent blue eyes in which I was instantly drawn towards. I am a boy as well, and that is my secret.

I was so entranced, that though I feared speaking to anyone, I knew I must follow him! With an awkward jerk, I flew forward down the street and around the corner, just as he slipped into a dimly lit alleyway. I sprinted as fast as I could and nearly slipped as I slid around and into the alley. I must have this boy you see. But as I approached the back of the alley, which was a solid brick wall, he was gone. Instead there was a sleek, black crow crouching in his place. He had turned into a bird.

The bird abruptly took flight, and soared out of the alley, it flew over the city, then to the ocean, and so it was gone; but if you were me, you would know, things such as this happen much too often.
