Crimson Tears

Wrapped in crimson
Entangled in beauty, she rests.
Hair platted graciously,
falling perfectly over her shoulder like silk.

Ready as ever ,
Anticipating like a child
Waiting, longing for him
He promised to come.
Promised not to make her wait
Yet here she is
Waiting for him, alone

He sends a message,
A small comfort in this time of despair.
The message is gentle,
Brushing against her skin,
Whispering his love for her.

She hears it and longs for him even more
This meadow once a cradle of love
Now plane of loneliness
The fragile blades of grass no longer inviting.

Now they vengefully puncture her very soul,
Reminding her of her longing,
Her pain.

Watching the sun, she resents the power it has over the day,
Tearing it away from her.
Breaking open this already gaping chasm in her chest

Today was the day
Today was the end of her suffocating isolation from her heart,
Her very reason of existence.
His message suddenly fades
Disappearing into the setting sun
Crimson stains crimson as she bleeds out her feelings.
She needs him.
Calling becomes screams becomes sobs of desperation
She needs him

Darkness settles and she falls ever deeper into her dreamless sleep alone
Alone as the day he left her.
