The kids ran upstairs to Albus's room.
Al hopped on his bed. "So have you thought of anything?" he asked Rose.
"Well, I hate to say this, but...I am my mother's daughter," she said. "Mom took me to the bookstore yesterday because she was so happy I was back, so...I picked out this book on the history of the Sorting Hat." Rose pulled a book out of the crossbody bag she was wearing.
"Okay, but like, can't we just go into McGonagall's office and talk to the hat?" Scorpius asked.
Albus and Rose turned silently and looked Scorpius right in the eye.
"I mean... am I wrong?" he asked.
"No..." Rose said. "It's just that, you know, what if that plan doesn't work out? Shouldn't we be prepared?"
Albus and Scoripus looked at each other, knowing in their hearts that Rose needed everything to be planned out or she would freak.
"Yeah we should," Albus said.
Rosie rambled on for an hour about the history of the Hat and how it is the Headmaster's sacred duty to make sure the Hat stays safe and continues to place children in Houses that will help to guide and nurture them or whatever.
Albus was about to ask what the point of talking about the history of the Hat was instead of strategies to get into McGonagall's office when James knocked on his door.
"Alright, infants, time to get ready and go to Grandma's house," James yelled.
"What?! It's not even close to dinner time yet!" Albus whined.
"Too bad, man," he said. "Mum says Grandma is sick of not spending enough time with all million of us."
"You know, no one ever told her it was a good idea to have seven children," Rose said. "That's how she ended up with a situation like this. Everyone got married and had two or three children and now we're an empire."
"Kids!" Ginny yelled from downstairs.
"Coming!" James yelled and everyone hurried down the stairs after him.
