Chapter 5

The team stood outside the door, all ears pressed against the metal of the door.

After hearing about his story Miss M, Artemis, and Kid Flash were in tears. Even Superboy was about to cry.

"Poor kid, absolutely horrified." Artemis said and sniffled.

"Wonder what Bats has thinks about this. He isn't exactly the 'emotional type'" KF stated bluntly.

"He thinks he will handle it and his team shouldn't be eavesdropping on classified businesses.

Wally paled. "Heyyyy Batmannn..." he started, "we're just trying to get to know our teammate."

Batman starred at him. "What do you mean teammate?"

"The boy is skilled at fighting, and would make a great addition to our team." SB explained.

"That may be true, but at the moment he is in no condition to fight crime." Batman lectured. "He can hardly look anyone in the eye, he can't talk without stuttering, he is traumatized and seriously injured. Also he is only 13. I see no possibility of him joining this team."

"Maybe you should give him time sir." MM said walking out of Dick's room with Kaldur. "Some friends might be good for him, and from what I've heard he is very talented in the fighting field."

"He was trained to be an assassin by one of the most dangerous assassins in the world. We can't be sure he is to be trusted fully." and with that Batman walked away.

Dick heard the entire conversation from his room. He knew he was weak and needed plenty of time to get himself together, but he didn't know that he wasn't trusted. Just because I was trained by an assassin doesn't mean I am an assassin. I hated what Deathstroke and Tony made me do!! He wants to be a hero, always has. Now it grew stronger. He would prove to Batman, the League, and to his one day team that he could be trusted and he could be a hero.

Batman eyed the team. "I'll give him 3 months. If he can physically AND mentally heal AND prove he is no threat, I'll allow him to join the team. BUT things will be taken slow and if I see him in any pain or any signs of a threat I'll take him off the team quicker than Flash can blink. Understood?"

The team nodded their heads determined to help their newest team member right away.

Dick woke up to the sound of his door opening. He jumped slightly at the noise but instantly relaxed when he saw Batman and Aqualad... and four other teens...? Wait they look familiar...

"Dick, this is the team that brought you here." Batman explained.

"Hey I'm Miss Martain but you can call me Megan!" Meg said cheerfully.

"Hey I'm Wally super awesome sidekick of the amazing Flash." Wally said obnoxiously.

"I'm Artemis." Artemis said glaring at Wally.

"Superboy." SB said and smiled slightly.

"I'm Dick.." Dick said quietly playing with his fingers

"I've brought them in here because once you heal you'll be training with them and will join their team to fight crime." Batman explained.

Dick's eyes lit up as he looked up to Batman. "Really?" Dick knew he sounded like a little child but he couldn't help what Batman was telling him. Especially since he said yesterday.

"Yes" he reassured, "but first you must heal fully and prove your loyalty to the League."

Dick nodded excitedly and determined. He was going to prove himself to be a strong little bird. Just like his parents always told him to be.

"I'll let you guys get to know each other as I talk to the League." and with that Batman swiftly left the room.

Dick couldn't stop smiling. This is the first time he has a real genuine smile since that night...

"So Dick." Wally said snapping him out of his thoughts, "if you join our team what's your hero name going to be?"

Without much thought Dick knew his answer.

Fly high my little Robin. Be the strongest bird you can be.

"Robin." Dick answered confidently.

The team starred at him curiously as to how he came up with such a unique name, but they were glad to see him smile and be much more happier then a few days ago when they first brought him here.

The team talked for hours and hours. Dick was definitely starting to open up and seem to be less scared. He was no longer stuttering and was starting to make eye contact. They knew they'd have the little bird suited up before Batman's time limit.

Dick noticed his new confidence too. He started to feel safe.

He was starting to feel sane again.

Yay a chapter! This might be the last time I update in a while because I'm going to Disney World this week! I'm super excited because I've never been there. But never fear for I will start writing the next few chapters! Sorry if this chappie sucked by the way it's like 12:30am and I super tired but I wanted to update for you guys! YAY by the way Dick finally met everyone! and is starting to open up! Don't worry my Daddybats fans there will be plenty of him. and plenty of drama so stay tuned!
