29 The Date

I am sitting in front of the mirror putting make-up on when Dad enters the room. He looks at me. "You look beautiful, sweetheart."

A tear falls down my face. "Do you really think so?"

He nods. "Ethan's, going to drop to his knees when he sees you in that dress. It's good to see that you're going on a date. I know it's been awhile since your last one."

I look at him. "Dad, I'm scared."

He laughs. "It's normal to be afraid on the first date. Take a deep breath and let it out. You're going to be fine on this date. Ethan, won't let anything happen to you. Johnny, Mom and I have the twins. They will be fine until you get home."

I finish up with the make-up. I smile at Dad. "I'm ready for this date to start." I hear the door bell and then voices.

As I make my way close to the stairs I hear Johnny say. "If you hurt my sister I will kill you."

Ethan rolls his eyes. "You tried to when you knocked me out and shoved me into the boot of the car. Then rolled it into the lake."

I see Johnny from the stairs and I take off one of my heels. I throw it at my brother. "Why would you try to kill your partner?"

Johnny looks away from me. He stays silent while I walk down the stairs.

When I reach the bottom of the stairs I walk over to my brother and I hit. "You're a jerk."

Ethan laughs. "Damn," he pulls me into his arms. "Even your sister isn't impressed with you doing that."

Mom and Dad are standing next to each other with shocked looks on their face after hearing what Johnny did.

I hear the twins cry.

Mom looks at me. "We'll get them." Mom and Dad exit the room.

I put on the heel that I threw at Johnny. "We're out of here. Don't wait up, Johnny." I take Ethan's hand and we exit the house.
When we get to the car Ethan opens the door for me. I climb into the black SUV that he drives.

He shuts the door and then rounds the car. He climbs into the driver's seat and he heads towards Beverly Hills. He takes my hand in his.

I love the feeling of his hand in mine.

Ethan pulls the car in front of a restaurant. He looks at me. "I got us a table at LUX. I hope that's alright?"

I smile. "LUX, is one of the most popular places in Beverly Hills. How did you get a table like this?"

He looks at me. "I own LUX with Johnny."

Why didn't Johnny tell me he owned a place like this? I feel left out of my brother's life.

I look at him. "Do you think you will be able to get them to hold a table for me? I'd like to come here for lunch when I'm at the office."

"I will let them know. Can you promise me that you won't come here with another man?"

I kiss his cheek. "I won't come here with another man. The one man I want to bring here apparently owns the place."
