I stood inside of the dusty building rummaging through the files that lay inside a small cardboard box. "Yes!" I picked up the documents of Anna Parker, and smiled. I opened the folder and to my dismay, it was empty. "Perfect. Just what I needed." I sighed and looked around the room in which I stood. "Behind the shelf on the left." Said a voice I didn't recognize. I quickly turned around and looked at the body from which the voice was coming from. A tall man was at the entrance of the door, leaning against the wall. "You're looking for Anna Parker's information, correct?" It had been too dark too see his face at the moment, but I knew exactly who he was.
I raised a brow and directed my gaze towards the shelf he had pointed out to me. I cautiously walked over to it, bent down and reached my hand behind the shelf. I felt pieces of paper touch my finger, and reached in, grabbing the pages and pulling them out. "Allow me." The man had suddenly appeared behind me and took the papers from my hands. He examined the papers and called out, "John!"
Not but a few seconds later, another man appeared at the door. "Yes, Sherlock?" He shined his flashlight at me and look at us with a puzzled look on his face. "Who's this?" I squinted at the harsh light the flashlight provided. "Not important. I need you to send this address to Mr. Armstrong. 1855012 Basker-" I cut him off and pulled the pages from his grasp. "Why excuse me, but I need these. I must inform you that it's MY case, not yours, Mr. Holmes." His eyes narrowed slightly. "Why, of course Miss Sterling. Go on, tell me where you suspect the remains of Eli Andrews are at the moment." Of course he'd know my name...
"Well... I-" As I began to speak, he abruptly cut me off as I had done to him. "Of course you don't know. You're just like the others... such a small brain in that pretty little head of yours. You think that Eli's body is in the basement of his third wife's home. It is actually much more complicated than that. You see, Anna Parker's fourth cousin on her mother's side has actually spread all of his body parts throughout the sewers of London. Why you ask? Well it's actually quite obvious..." Sherlock continued to speak, and I turned my gaze to the other man, John. "He always does this. I hope he's not making you feel stupid." John whispered to me, and I smiled, shaking my head.
"Did you listen to a single word I said?" Sherlock hissed at me once he had finished explaining everything. I glanced up at him and smirked. "How could I not have? I must give you credit for all of your findings, but you were missing a detail, love." He crossed his arms and looked closely at me. "And what is that?" I looked over at John, and began speaking. "The remainings were not Eli Andrew's. They were Matilda Howard's. Perhaps if you weren't so ignorant, you would have figured that out by now. That lab you did your research on? The DNA was switched. If you would have payed close attention, the ripped up skin showed signs of a tattoo on the right leg. Eli had never gotten a tattoo in his life. he wouldn't get one if his life depended on it for that matter. Why would he use a woman's body to impersonate his own? Well, I think based on the woman, you can figure that out on your own. That leads me to the conclusion that Eli doesn't want anyone to know that he is still alive, because he is hiding from someone. That someone is Anna Parker, and that is exactly why I'm here. Perhaps think twice before assuming things of people. I'm not just a pretty face, darling." I put the files in my trench coat and began to exit. The room was silent and Sherlock and John were completely bewildered. I left the building with a smile on my face. I could sense that Sherlock was about to run after me, so I intentionally dropped my scarf at the entrance and called a taxi. Once I got into the taxi, I could see Sherlock leaving the building with John and picking up the scarf. He looked around and finally, even in the darkest of night, his eyes met mine. His strong gaze made my heartbeat accelerate and I took a short gasp of breath. I signaled for the taxi driver to start driving, and broke our stare.
