Thursday, 5:00am (1 day later)
I woke to my doorbell ringing. My boyfriend yawned and got out of bed. "I'll get it." He rose to his feet and walked out of our bedroom, heading to our front door. I stretched in bed, my memory a bit fuzzy. I had quite a few night terrors last night... It had started ever since I had taken up the career of being a detective. They continued to get worse, but I certainly wasn't going to let a few nightmares get the best of me. I knew they'd eventually pass. I got up out of bed, and put on one of my boyfriend's shirts. I looked in the mirror. My hair was a mess, so I put it up in a bun, when I heard my boyfriend, Ben, call my name. I didn't have enough time to put my contacts in, so I grabbed my large glasses and headed out the door of my bedroom.
I walked over through the hallway and saw Ben holding the door open, and standing in the doorway was John, the man I had met yesterday. "Hello Zinnia." Mr. Watson smiled at me, trying not to seem awkward to mine, and my boyfriend's lack of proper clothing. I walked over to the door and greeted him. "Ah, John. I wasn't expecting you." I shook his hand and looked down at the carefully wrapped package he was holding. He followed my gaze and handed the package to me. "Sherlock wanted me to give this to you. Sorry he wasn't able to make it. He had, um... business to attend to." I eyed the package and nodded. Ben gave John a mean glare and John, beginning to feel even more uncomfortable, cleared his throat. "Well, I'll be off then. See you around Miss Sterling." He gave me a brief smirk and left.
"What was that all about?" Ben asked, annoyed. I shook my head. "Just a neighbor welcoming me to the area..." He shrugged. "I'm taking a shower. I'll see you in there." He kissed my shoulder and walked off to the bathroom. I waited until he closed the door and carefully unwrapped the package. Inside lie my scarf and one of the papers in the files. I guess it must have fallen out of my coat as well. I unwrapped the scarf and found a note inside.
Ms. Sterling,
I found your deduction to be very true, and I much so appreciate that you shared it with me. You seemed to drop some of your belongings. How could such a smart girl be so clumsy? I would like to further hear what you have come up with as far as the case. I'll see you at noon near your flat. I hope you fancy Chinese.
S.HolmesI held onto the note and couldn't help but smile. I stood up and walked towards the window, seeing John hailing a taxi. He was on the phone with Mr. Holmes, and I laughed a bit to myself once I heard the conversation. "She has a boyfriend.... The hell if I know.... He seems like a nutcase to me... Why are you asking me this?" I shook my head and hid the note in one of my drawers, then as promised, headed into the bathroom with my boyfriend or in other words, a "nutcase".
