Sorry?

You looked up toward the red-eyed demon child, a bit surprised that they had... apologized? You weren't expecting such a personー no, entity, ratherー to be the type to say 'Sorry.' Especially not in this instance.

"P-Pardon?" You coughed out, staring at Chara with so many thoughts whirring about your brain that you were trying to grasp that you were absentminded. "Why are you showing remorse?"

The child did not reply but rather stayed there floating in the empty space, their eyes closed as if trapped in a deep therapeutic meditation but little did you know it was the exact opposite. Right before you was not someone who was happy with their decision nor were they improving their mental state, but it was instead crashing and dissipating within the surprisingly fragile mind of theirs.

Soon enough, their tears came gushing as well in large amounts. As if they were their own planet, the tears orbited around them in large puddles. "Y-You see, I didn't mean to hurt you...! I rather, just wanted to... be alone with you." Chara seemed to be choking on their own words as they coughed out shakily. "I-I'm sorry."

Somehow, even after having your whole world taken away, you feel some hint of sympathy for them. "I-It's okayー" It was not. "I forgive you." You were lying. "I mean," You're taking it too far. "Since we're alone, together, let's..." What are you thinking? "Let's hang out." If the narrator could facepalm, they would be doing so.

Chara looked up at you with wide eyes. "Even after all I've done? After I hurt you?" Is this what they were hoping for? For you to push away all morality and accept them? "I-I mean... Okay!" Their crimson eyes lit up and they seemed to... be filled with determination of some kind?
