"So she just offered to take you to one of these clubs" Charlie questioned me watching as I slid the short royal blue dress over my head.
The dress came down to my upper thigh. It boat neck in the front and racer back.
"That's what I just said isn't it. Are you going to zip me up or not?" I was annoyed. Charlie was questioning my intentions in befriending Rebecca but he didn't have to ask. He knew me well enough to know I didn't want any friends so telling him about Rebecca raised questions he already knew the answers to.
I felt Charlie grip the dress from the side and tug at the zipper.
"You're obviously using her"
"She offered"
Charlie was a good guy. But this is kind of like our Amanda situation so I didn't see what the big deal was.
"Ellie I work with her. She's really nice. Don't fuck her over"
I rolled my eyes and shooed him out of my way so that I could reach for my black heels.
"Charlie. I'm not going to 'fuck her over'. She's... Interesting" I was having trouble getting the heels on.
"Just promise you'll be nice. I'd be damned if you fuck this up for me Elizabeth."
"Okay first of all. Don't call me Elizabeth." I finally got my shoes on so I stood up and pointed at him In annoyance.
"And secondly, thanks for the faith in me. Thanks for the love"
I knew that guilting him would be the only way to get him off my back. And I felt bad about it but he was pissing me off. I was here to have fun. Not everyone ha a cool fucking internship to keep them busy.
Even them, when I'm pissed at him. I still wanted him to come with me. Have a good night out. Because next week when he actually starts working he won't have time for me like we're used to.
"Are you sure you don't want to come out tonight? By the way where is my jacket?"
I opened the closet to see it wasn't on a hanger and all my other clothes were folded and put away.
"I'm sure, I'm pretty tired and still kind of jet lagged. Ill probably sleep in tomorrow so don't wake me up or that promise to shave your eyebrows off still stands"
I looked from behind the closet door at him to flip him off.
"Oh and your jacket is on my bed remember?"
"Why?" I made my way to his room, and found it laying there on his bed like He said.
"Remember when you came in you-"
"Oh yea, yea yea. Shit.." I looked at the time. It was 9:57.
"I really have to go. I'm asking one more time do you-"
"No"
I pouted and sighed, kissing his cheek.
"Fine ill see you in the morning"
"Wow. Ellie, you look amazing" Rebecca complimented when I slid into her car. This opposite passenger side shit still freaked me out. I felt stupid walking to the wrong side of the car.
"Thanks" I smiled, looking up out the window to see the sky darkening.Rebecca waited there for a minute until I realized I was supposed to offer her a compliment as well? That's how these things worked right?
"You look cool too" I offered and she smiled gladly taking this compliment. I. Wanted to know what her deal was. Why was she so eager to be my friend. I'm me and I wouldn't even want to be my friend. It isn't in any way self loathing. I'm just shit at it. I only knew how to be friends with Charlie. And that took a while to get used to.
"Where are we going?"
"The Groucho Club" she answered a sly smirk on her face. I had heard of it before in America. Kelly had mentioned how she and her probably just as gross friend Mark tried getting into the club but to her disappointment it was members only. Like they'd let her in anyways.
"Isn't it members only?"
"Yes."
I smirked, this was going to be grand. Accepting her offer of becoming friends was the best thing yet. But I still had loads of questions for her.
"What exactly do you do at Syco? Are you another intern?"
She made a turn down a busy street while I looked out the window. It looked alright outside. I've lived in the city my whole life, so I was used to tall buildings and flashy lights.
"God no." She laughed.
"I mean I used to be like two years ago. But I'm a publicist now."
"You did that fairly quick"
She sighed.
How did she become a publicist so quickly. Maybe she did a few things to I don't know boost her career. Maybe she isn't as innocent as she seems. Which doesn't really bother me. I might like her more because she has guts.
"Simon is kind of my uncle"
"Your uncle?
"Yea I'm sure you've heard about his baby drama?"
I laughed, remembering Charlie and I making fun of the situation a couple of weeks ago.
"Ha classic."
She laughed nervously "The woman is my aunt."
I didn't say anything because we had arrive in front of a building that didn't look all that spectacular. It didn't look like a club at all. In fact it looked fairly boring.
"Is this a joke?"
Rebecca rolled her eyes getting out the car handing her keys to the valet driver.
"It looks better on the inside. It's a friend of mines birthday party"
I only sighed following her. She had reminded me that my birthday was coming up on the fourteenth. Usually ma and Charlie would go ice skating and then he'd take me to a different restaurant where they'd sing happy birthday to me. It was a different restaurant every year and I looked forward to it. It had become a tradition. I mean I guess we could still do those things here but it wouldn't be the same.
Rebecca was right about it looking better on the inside. In fact it was an understatement. It looked like some of the biggest clubs back home but classier. Like you'd have to stick your pinky up when takin a shot.
Even so, it looked spectacular. I stayed close to her at first not really being comfortable and I felt as if the words "IM AMERICAN" were written on my forehead. I know it wasn't a big deal but I was self conscious about it. I did however remember that the drinking age here was 18 and being 19, I abandoned Rebecca and made a bee line towards the bar.
"What will it be?" A bald man behind the counter asked, shaking up a drink already for the lady next to me.
"Probably a gin & tonic" I said leaning forward so that he could hear me. The music was impossibly loud. But I was ready to let loose and have fun.
He flashed me a smile and handed the lady her drink who shot it down immediately before heading for the dance floor. I laughed a little at her expense. She must have Been drunk off her ass. Her dress was ridden up in the back tucked into her underwear and I for one wasn't going to tell her.
"How much is it?"
"On the house. Welcome to London"
You see. Written on my fucking forehead.
I took my drink with me to find someone who knew how to party. And i mean really party. And if I had watched skins enough I knew somebody in here would know what I meant.
Someone grabbed my arm, pulling me back a little and I was ready to curse up a storm until I came face to face with a tall brunette. The one back at Charlie's job who I had an intense staring contest with.
"I remember you" he smiled.
I raised an eyebrow pretending to not know who he was. "I'm sorry?"
"From Syco. You were there. With Rebecca?" He said cooly, pushing his hands in his pocket. He had a snap back on now but he was wearing the same clothes.
He knew Rebecca? Of course he did.
I smirked, pulling him with me. He mimicked me going along with whatever I was doing.
"Ellie right?"
I shrugged, "maybe. Maybe I'm queen Elizabeth"
He chuckled, pulling me into a seat next to him on a vacant couch.
"Elizabeth seems like such a boring name for you"
"So you can see why I hate it"
He smiled. "Well aren't you missing your crown or some shit?"
"It'll mess up my hair"
Both he and I grinned at one another while I finally took a sip of my drink.
"You know, you never asked me for my name" he whispered into my ear.
"I don't want to know it"
And I didn't. I already knew what was planned for us by the end of the night and I didn't really plan on seeing him again.
"But I know yours, isn't it fair?"
"I didn't give you mine. You obviously asked about me. But maybe.. If you can get something for me.."
"What do you want babe?"
I looked around and whispered in his ear and he grinned putting up a finger saying he'd be right back.
Just as he left Rebecca came giggling toward me. "Ellie. You fucking disappeared."
I shrugged, not really caring. She was already a few drinks in obviously and I didn't come here to babysit.
"Come on. You have people to meet." She grabbed my had tightly and drug me behind her while I tried getting free. I gave up after a while and she finally stopped in front of three people.
"This is the birthday boy Louis."
"Technically it isn't my birthday until the 24th Rebecca. But a party is a party. Ill be expecting gifts that day as well" he joked.
"That's got to suck" I laughed, and I mean really laughed. I don't know what for. But his birthday was on Christmas Eve. That's even shittier than my birthday.
"What? My birthday?"
"Fuck yea". I said taking a seat in between him and another girl.
"My birthday is on the 14th and its complete shit. I can only imagine"
"Ah HELLO someone who finally gets it. See harry it is a problem you dick"
It had finally sunk in who I was talking too. Louis. And Harry.
I could have slapped myself from how stupid I felt.
I looked over to see Harry looking up from the girl next to him. He tilted his head to look at me. He must have remembered me.
"Oh hi"
"Hey.. Ellie..right?"
"You two know each other then?" Louis asked from beside me. Rebecca had took it upon herself to flop down on my lap making me almost push her off. But I controlled myself not wanting to give off a bad impression.
"Not really. I met her at the airport kind of. You found your friend then?"
"Charlie!" Rebecca sang. I nodded.
"Oh well that's good. This is my girlfriend Emily."
Emily and I returned a smile to each other.
"You're dress is amazing" she complimented. I felt slightly uncomfortable with her presence. But I wanted to SEEM friendly so I thanked her and complimented her ugly ass shoes.
I was hoping that the brunette would find me soon. But I couldn't spot him anywhere from here.
"Where is everyone else then?" I asked once there was an awkward silence flooding the air.
"Oh erm.. Niall is at the bar bringing us drinks. You just missed Liam he took Sophia to the dance floor and Zayn isn't here yet." Harry explained.
"Babe, can we dance?" Emily pouted at Harry who smiled and kissed her lips before dismissing themselves. I watched him hold her closely pulling her to the dance floor before they disappeared.
"Calum buddy!" Louis lunged at someone for a hug. I rolled my eyes before catching the guys eye. It was the brunette. Calum.
He took a seat next to me snaking his arm around my shoulder.
"Are you ready?" He asked. I looked at Rebecca and Louis who were watching the interaction. I smirked, nodding.
"Open." I did as he said, opening my mouth wide.
Calum dropped a little white pill into my mouth and before I could close it fully He kissed me roughly. I didn't mind though. I was here to have fun. And the fun was only just beginning. I could feel the pill dissolving as we battled for it in our mouths, but I won, swallowing it. I pulled away smiling as he put his own into his mouth swallowing it immediately.
I looked over at Rebecca and Louis who looked shocked.
"Fun" I smirked.
Everything felt good. My senses were on fire and I wanted to take advantage of that. I kept laughing and smiling while I danced against Calum who was breaking a sweat moving with me. His hands were on my hip and like I said I wanted to take advantage of this feeling.
"Have you ever felt so good" I yelled, I was lost and I loved it. I felt alive and happy.
"Babe I can make you feel better." He grinned, taking my hand. I smirked following him as he led me to the exit. In the back of my mind I felt like I should have said goodbye to Rebeca but I couldn't give a shit at the moment. I wanted Calum and we were going back to my hotel wether I said goodbye to her or not.
