CH. 5
finally, after hours and hours of packing, I was finished. I packed several of my favorite overalls and mud boots. I sat there for a moment wondering if those clothes I packed were appropriate for Chicago. Oh well. Going to the city won't change who I am. Right?
I also packed the pictures that were on my mirror. The one of Pepper and I stayed in my purse where it was safe. I saw my phone light up. Quenn was calling. I hesitated to pick it up. How could I tell her that I was leaving?
"Hey Quenn."
"Hey girl!"
"So whats up?" I asked
"Eh. Nothing much. So how are you doing?"
"Well uh... bad." I choked.
"What? Why?"
"I have to go visit my dad."
"Wow! That's awesome Megan! But why are you so sad about that? I thought you wanted to see him all you're life!"
"Ya. But I have to leave home and go to Chicago for six months. I won't be able to see you for the rest of the school year. But I'm coming back in August."
"What? But who will I sit with at lunch? And share my secrets to?"
"You have Haleigh."
Haleigh was my other friend. She wasn't my best friend like Quenn but she was still a great friend. She had pretty short blond hair with glasses.
"I know but..." she stopped.
"What?" I asked.
"I got to go." She said suddenly.
I didn't even get a chance to say bye she hung up so fast. I made her very upset. I could tell. Well, I'm glad that's over, because it would just be piling up on my chest and it would be time to leave by the time I would tell her. I took a deep breath. And I made a mental note.
Call Sarah.
