The Dead Mate

Chapter 8

I sighed as I plopped down on the couch. Derek is feeling better now and the wolves had left. I don't know when they left or how they did since there was a door in the way. Sarah, Kevin, James, and Justin had came back though. It was weird, they came like a minute after the dogs left. Didn't they get scared to see wolves running around? I'm sure they saw the wolves.

"Nikki?" I heard someone say. I turned around to see James talking to me. "Yes?" I asked, curiously. He then immediately pulled me into a hug. I giggled and returned the hug. "You're weird, I like you!" I yelled at the end. Sarah came next to me and smiled. Kevin just stood there and watched me hug his father. Kevin and Sarah then hugged me once their father pulled away from the hug. Justin sat at a chair watching me and Derek was watching football on TV. Soon our hug was over and I was sitting next to Derek. It was the Cowboys against the Vikings. "If football is soccer in somewhere else then is soccer really football?" I asked. Derek looked at me weirdly then had a thinking face on. "I don't really know, that's weird" he said. I nodded and then started to cheer for the Cowboys. Once the Cowboys won the game I started to dance around the living room. Derek was sulking of the loss of his third favorite team. Justin was watching me with a weird look and Sarah and Kevin were laughing at Derek's pouting face. James was just watching everyone, amused. "Haha! The Cowboys won. Whoop Whoop!" I yelled knowing Derek's pout would deepen. Justin smiled at me as I did that. "What?" I asked him. "How come you like the Cowboys?" He asked. I shrugged, not really knowing. Maybe I liked them before my amnesia? "I don't know, I just do. Why? So you like the cowboys?!!" I asked getting excited at the thought of a fellow cowboy fan. He nodded his head with a big grin. "Derek! Justin likes the Cowboys too! See the Cowboys rule!!!!" I yelled. Derek shook his head and then started to go to the kitchen. Sarah and Kevin then said they had to go home. So they left along with James. Derek had said bye to them and then continued to cook dinner. Justin said he would stay a little longer. I thought it would be a little weird with just them two but it wasn't that weird, so far. "So what are your plans for college?" Derek asked Justin. "I plan to go to the state college" Justin said. "What about you guys?" Justin asked. "Well I plan to go to Harvard and become a lawyer I want to become just like Elle in legally blonde!" I said happily. "I plan to go to Harvard too but not because of um legally blonde" Derek said and then chuckled a little bit at the end. I rolled my eyes. "Soo, Justin any girls in your life?" I asked. He choked on his food. "No, my uh love died" he said. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!!!" I yelled. "Honey I think you should be a little more quiet" he said as he rubbed his ears. "Whatever!" I pouted and then poked his stomach making him squeal like a girl. "Ouch! Derek you should be a little quieter" I faked the pain of his loudness and rubbed my ears. He playfully glared. Justin just laughed at the scene. "Just in!!!" I yelled. "Your name is Just and In! Like Just in there is news of a tiger going wild in the streets" I then had a news reporter voice at the end. Justin laughed and nodded. "Yup just like just in" he said smiling. Soon Justin left after dinner. "I need to tell you something important" Derek said looking serious. "What is it?" I asked going serious. "I'm going to have to move. I can't keep the house but I found a good house in a state next to us" he said. Leave, that means leaving the new friends we met today. But if I don't go with Derek then I lose my friend and boyfriend who has helped me from day one.
