Brie doesn’t know when or how she dozes off.

And again, she was woken up by a phone ringing.

Must be Dayna ... again. Ugh!

She answered it without doing any effort of sitting up.

‘Dayna.’

‘Gabriela.’

Her eyes popped out as she heard the authorative tone ... of her mom.

‘Mom?’

‘Where are you?’ mom asked.

Where am I? Why does she ask?

‘At home?’

‘In your condo?’

‘Yes mom. In Makati.’

‘That figures.’

‘What is it mom?’

Silence. She seems to be weighing the words she’ll be saying next.

‘Mom? You’re still there?’

‘Oh, yes.’ She seemed bewildered.

‘You’re saying?’

‘You forgot our lunch date.’

What? Lunch? What time is it already?

She looked at her bedside clock.

Shit! It’s past 12 already! Which means she’s been waiting half an hour and another half more because I haven’t fix myself yet.

God, what to do?

Think! Think! Think!

‘Um, hello mom?’

‘Yes, sweetie?’

‘Do you mind if you just come over? I’ll cook something. And I’m so sorry. Very sorry. I over slept today.’

It’s not you to overslept, Brie.

‘I’m sorry sweetie, I can’t now. I had other plans already after this. Maybe next time. I guess have some sleep more and rest. You must be really tired.’

Here she go again. My stubborn mom.

‘But mom,’ she protested.

‘Sweetie, it’s really fine. I’m meeting Andrew. And here he comes now.’

Andrew? Who the heck is Andrew? Guy number 20? What number is it already?

‘Mom.’

‘Bye sweetie. Call me if you can. Or I’ll do that sooner rather than later. Take care! I love you!’

She sighed.

‘Okay mom. Call you later. And take care also. I love you too.’

And the line went dead.

Brie felt irritated. She doesn’t know if it is about her mother dating every guy in the planet or it’s her that must have been at fault on assessing her mother. She’s been with different guys twice a week, not that I mind she got more attention than I, myself. But it feels not right, right? I, myself lost count; not that I intended to do the counting all along. But can’t help it. I wonder if she ever noticed the countless men she’s been involving in her life for the past few months. I can’t blame her in doing so. I can say, she has the rights?

Duh! Men ... Men ... Men.

The very big problem in the world of us, women.

For a few minutes, Brie closed her eyes. Deciding what she’ll be doing for the rest of her Sunday; besides from going to church which was supposed to be early this morning.
