Your feet moved quickly underneath your body, feeling the numbness crawl up your leg. How long had you been running? At least three blocks and at this point it looked like more. Your chest burned as you struggled to funnel air into your lungs.
Looking behind you, eyes squinted, you saw the same two figures running after you. They yelled out for you to stop, but were you really going to? Fuck no. You finally had enough to leave and get out of here. The long awaited dream of yours to travel and start a new life over in Australia was beginning. After moving here with your parents it became the biggest mistake. Nothing was going to stand in your way now though.
Rounding a corner, your hand reached up and gripped the strap of the black backpack you had straddled. Knuckles white you held on as you ran to make sure nothing happened to it. You glanced back for a split second to check and they weren't there... Yet. As you whipped your head back around a strand of hair block d your vision and you hit something solid and fumbled down with it. Scrambling your fingers found the backpack strap still on your back. Eyes searching for whatever you ran into, you brushed your hair back and stared at a guy on the ground. His eyes dug into you.
"What's with ya?!"
In a panic you stood up and glared right back at him. "Shut the fuck up, you never once saw me..got it?"
"What? Yah I did and I'll tell whoever needs to know." He pushed his body up and pushed his hair back. He looked like a fucking loser. He had jet black hair and dark eyes. They were glued to you as he stood there watching and waiting for an apology. Your eyes searched him up and down and stopped back up at his eyes.
Your hand grabbed the cold metal of the pistol in between your jeans and the small of your back. Your fingers slid into their positions like they're used to. It fit perfectly. Your eyes stared back at his and he gave you a little motion.
"Are you gonna explain yourself?"
"No.. But you never fucking saw me." Pulling out the pistol you pointed it at him and started to walk around him slowly, watching him. Your eyes flickered from him to the direction you came running from. You still hadn't seen the other two and figured it was safe to head back to your safe house. Your eyes went back to the guy and you could see the fear in his eyes, they were glued to your gun. His hands had moved into the air as if to say don't shoot, but that had never stopped you before.
As soon as you got all the way past him you tucked the gun back into the back of your jeans and bolted. Fingers finding the strap again and you let out a sigh of relief as your feet thudded across the ground.
I may actually get away with this.
