You rolled off the couch around one in the afternoon. No one had been home all day and frankly you did not care why. Rob being out of the house had been the highlight of your week, but you felt bad your mom had to leave with him. Pushing yourself up, you trudged to the kitchen and took out a glass from the cupboard and filled it with water. You took a long drink as you closed your eyes. The cool water felt good against your throat as it rushed down. It had only been a day without any narcotics and it was already driving you crazy.
Joji said if you two wanted to take the next step, which you weren't sure you even wanted to, that you had to clean yourself up. Which meant no taking, selling, or associating with drugs. What Joji didn't know was, that business was all you knew since high school. With your record it was going to be a struggle for you to get a job other than fast food industry. Which you had no interest in. You had your GED, but went to college for a month and then dropped out after you got sick of it.
Setting the glass in the sink you walked back to the couch and searched for your phone. Fingers touching the cool glass of the screen, you flipped it in your hand and hit the home button. It lit up to two messages, both from Joji.
"Hey, I have a surprise for you."
"I s2g (y/n), answer me now. Your gonna be so fucking happy."
What he could he have possibly done for me? Oh boy, did he get me a job interview? Gag me. Sliding the phone open, you quickly messaged him back. You stared at his messages and read them over and over. But what could he have really done? The only thing that could make you ecstatic would be your trip out of here to... Holy shit, no he didn't. You lost your thought as the three dots disappeared and Joji's message was sent. He had to have gotten you those tickets to Australia. He had ties there and it could be a big possibility.
"Wait at your place, I'm on my way already. Two minutes from."
You sent back a small 'ok' and quickly went to your bedroom to change. You slid the ratty shirt over your head and out on a grey v neck and changed into a pair of ripped up jeans you spotted on the floor. They may have not been the cleanest but were cleaner than the sweats you had been wearing. You slid on your sneakers and walked out to the living room. You plopped on the worn out couch and scrolled through Twitter as you waited on Joji. Two raps on the door drew you from the phone. "Come in!"
Through the door came a tall, smiling Joji. He held his hands up with two booklets in them. "Babe.." You cringed a little at the fact he called you babe but pushed that thought aside. You studied the booklets; small, dark blue, and not thick with papers from what you could see. PASSPORTS. WHAT. You jumped up and ran to him, grabbing one of the booklets from his hand and you opened it. Your eyes landed on the ticket that laid inside and Perth, Australia was the destination.
"Joji!" You exclaimed so loud and your eyes flew up to him. "When, what?" You gazed back at the ticket and read every single word on it as you tried to consume it all. Searching for the date, Joji beat you to it.
"We leave tomorrow night, is that okay?"
"Is that okay? Does this face look like it's okay?" You gazed back up at him with a sparkle in your eye, a grin beaming on your face. You felt butterflies in your stomach, not just for him, but the fact your dream was coming true. Until you realized your mom was gone still. What if she's not back for me to say bye? Are these only one way? You looked back to the ticket and searched. "Are these, one way?" You spoke in a quiet tone.
"No, round trip, but we can skip that and just stay if you want. I mean I will have to fly back here for school and shit, but I'd always be coming back to visit you. And my friends live there and they visit me so you could always come with." Joji watched you with hopeful eyes. Looking back up at him you smiled again in relief at the plan and nodded in approval.
"Are we really doing this?"
"Yes."
You could feel your cheeks going numb from all the dumb smiling you were doing. You touched Joji's face with a soft hand and pulled him down to you, lips meeting with a shock. You flung the passport book in the direction of the end table, not sure if was actually going to hit, but you didn't care. You placed both hands firmly on Joji's head and pulled him with you, luring him in almost as you made way to the couch. You pulled back and took his passport book from his hand and flung it not the table.
With a soft push to his chest, Joji fell into the couch and it ate him up. You straddle Joji, sitting on his lap facing him. His eyes were watching your every move and he wore a small grin of satisfaction. Letting out a sigh and then taking a deep breath, you spoke softly, "I'm sorry I've been weird about us. I want you to know, I do love you. I was worried you would leave me though. But what you just did, proved it."
Joji looked appalled and gave a small chuckled, "To be honest I wasn't worried, I knew you would come around."
"Oh, you were just so sure I'd fall in love with you?" You raised an eyebrow and smirked at him. He was right though, there was nothing you could hate about him.
With a light shrug, Joji chuckled, "Come on, what is there to not love." You nodded in agreement and stole a kiss from him. You ran your hands through his hair and he wrapped a tight hold you on. His embrace made you feel comfortable, familiar it was the first time you felt like that with anyone in your life. It was nice.
As the two of you made out, Joji pulled you to the side and towered over you. He pushed himself close to you, his body right against yours and it gave you such a feeling that you wanted more, you craved more. Your hands traveled down his back and reached the bottom hem of his shirt and pulled it up and over his head. Your fingers trailed his back as his lips worked their way down your neck. Pulling up from you for a few seconds, Joji started to slide off your shirt until a bang at the door made the two of you jump.
You quickly pushed him off you and jumped to your feet. "Who the hell?"
"Rob and your mom?" Joji spoke quietly as he slid his shirt back on. You peered through the peephole and saw a man standing outside with a vanilla envelope. Joji stood right behind you and as you turned around you saw his eyes drop to you. "They're still after you?"
"Yeah, I'm not gonna turn myself in." You sighed as you tried to think this through. You knew the guy wouldn't leave until you went out and you had no desire to turn yourself in. Suddenly you were hit with the realization of not being able to travel. "Joji, I can't fly. They're gonna check me for my records and see I have a warrant out for my arrest." Your stomach dropped, along with your eyes at the thought of your dreams being crushed once again.
"Oh shit yeah, you might wanna look at your passport.." Joji spoke softly and he gave you small nudge. You shuffled over to the table quietly, trying to not let the man know you were home, and grabbed the passport. You flipped it open and saw your identification. You saw a fake name with fake information on the identification.
Your eyes flickered up to him and he wore a sly smile as he lunged for your arm and the two of you escaped out the window and down a fire escape.
