Panther Lily x Reader (Cat!)

"Lily!" I called out in the narrow alley, flying above puddle of rain water.

But the black cat was nowhere to be found. I flew higher to get a better view and hoped to see he somewhere. I squinted my eyes trying to see as far and wide as I could, but I still couldn't find him.

"(Y/n), have you found him?" a voice shouted from below me.

I look down and it was Gajeel soaked from head to toe and standing in a large puddle, not caring how drenched he got. I shook my head and lowered myself his his eye level.

"He's nowhere in the skies nor anywhere I can see from up there."

The iron dragonslayer grinded his teeth and punched the brick wall. He was frustrated and I understood why. Right above us was a sea of dark clouds that have been releasing its rain down on us, but it wasn't the rain that had us worried about Lily. It was the thunder.

A large boom rang out in the sky and both of us looked around in hopes to see Lily frantically running towards us with both ears covered by his paws. But he didn't appear.

Ever since Lily first came to Earth Land from Edolas he showed his fear of thunder. I found it incredibly cute, but after a while it became a problem. Kind of like how Gajeel and I were trying to find him.

"I'm going to check the guild again if he went there," Gajeel said and rushed off.

"Okay," I replied, calling out to his back, "I'll keep looking around."

With that I flew off to find places the Exceed might be hiding. I checked under stairs, the bridge, in trashcans, and I went to Lucy's place, but only found her beating up Natsu like always.

"Where could he be?" I scratched my head and tried thinking of all sorts of places.

Another roll of thunder roared above, much louder than before.

"Eep~!"

"Lily?!" I flew around in circles, trying to locate the squeak. "Where are you?"

I knew he was around there somewhere, but I couldn't find him.

"Ah," My time limit was up and my wings disappeared, dropping my to the ground with a loud thud. "Ow...."

I rubbed my bottom, which was now completely soaked.

"(Y/n)?"

I look up with surprise, "Lily!"

I rushed over to his little hiding spot in a cardboard box and held him tight. He was trembling from the thunder and now that I found him I didn't want to let go.

"I'm glad I found you," I said, looking up at him, "Gajeel and I were going around the whole city looking for you."

He looked at me in shock, "You were? For me?"

I nodded, "Gajeel went back to the guild to see if you were there."

"We should probably head back then."

I tilted my head, "You sure you're okay to leave your box?"

He smiled in reassurance, "I'm fine as long as you're here."

I blushed a bit and nodded, letting my arms drop to my sides. Then he reached for my paw and held on tight.

"Shall we go?"

"Mhm!" I nodded with a smile.

Both of us left the box together and made our way back to the guild. I couldn't fly, but Lily decided to walk back with me. I didn't mind, after all, I managed to hold his hand.

"(Y/n)?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."
