Distance

Laxus Dreyar x Reader (Fem!)

"Stupid Laxus," I grumbled in the empty guildhall.

He had been gone on a solo mission for over two weeks and I've been waiting for a couple of days at the guild for his return. Lately I've been staying at the guild late at night, but he still hadn't returned.

I've been becoming restless for his arrival. He promised he'd be back within a week and a half. He broke it. But then again, missions can easy go downhill in a blink of an eye. I couldn't blame him, but these long requests were straining our relationship.

I sighed, preparing to go home for the night. My feet dragged my depressing self to the door and opened it. It was pouring outside and a flash of lightning struck, revealing a silhouette of a tall figure in from of me.

I gasped, dropping my things, "Laxus."

Completely forgetting about my bag soaking in the ground, I threw myself to him. He was drenched in his coat, but that didn't matter. He was back.

His arms wrapped around my frame and his chin rest on my head, "I'm back."

He slowly let go of me and picked up my wet bag before heading inside. I followed, wanting an explanation for his tardiness. He sat down, shaking off his jacket, and ran his hand through his hair.

I stood there watching, just watching him, glad to see him again.

"So what happened?" I asked.

"Huh?"

"You came back so late."

"Oh.." He scratched his head, "About that.. I took a detour."

I blinked. He never took any sort of detour after a mission. It was unlike him.

"Sorry," he mumbled, reaching out a hand towards me.

I took it and sat on his lap. He held me close before continuing.

"(Y/n), I know it's been tough."

My head nodded.

"And the requests I've been taking are a long distance away and has been putting tension on us."

I turned my head to him, trying to figure out what he was saying.

He went on, "But it wouldn't be a problem anymore."

"What are you saying?

One arm removed itself around me and rustled in his pocket. My eyes watched as he pulled out a small dark blue box.

My heart thumped. Could he mean?

"Will you marry me?"

Still on his lap, I stared at the diamond ring in the open box. I didn't know how to respond. My words were trapped in my throat.

I turned my head and placed a hand on his face, "Yes," I whispered, resting my forehead on his.

A smile danced in his eyes and we kissed. As our lips touched I felt his arms moving around and a hand grab mine. I broke the kiss and looked down to see the ring resting on my finger.

It was gorgeous.
