Knocks! Knocks! Knocks!
"Babe, hurry up and get ready or we're gonna be late to my cousin's wedding!"
Kyra's heart fluttered at the sound of Alex's voice outside the bathroom door, urging her to finish her makeup quickly. She hastily applied her lipstick and grabbed her bag from the counter before stepping out.
As she emerged, she found Alex sitting on the bed, struggling to tie his shoe. Without a second thought, Kyra went to his aid, swiftly knotting his laces before moving to fix his hair. But to her surprise, Alex pushed her hand away and headed for the door.
Stunned by his sudden dismissal, Kyra stood frozen in disbelief as Alex reached for the handle. Before he could open it, he shouted,
"If you're not going, just say so. Don't stand there like an idiot," Alex's voice was sharp as he banged his hand against the door, frustration evident in his expression. Kyra turned to him, her confusion growing.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked, her tone tinged with concern.
Alex stomped his feet in frustration, his anger bubbling to the surface. "We're already 20 minutes late, Kyra. I don't have time to argue with you. Are we leaving or not?"
Kyra sighed, setting her bag down and crossing her arms as she prepared to argue her point with Alex.
"I'm not going if you act like this," Kyra asserted, her voice firm but calm. "We're not even late. The wedding starts at 6 pm, and it's only 4:30 pm now. The venue is just a 30-minute drive away. We still have plenty of time, and there's no need to raise your voice over this. Could you please just calm down?"
Alex let out a deep sigh, shaking his head in frustration. "Fine. I'm sorry, okay?" he relented, his tone softening. "Can we just go? I don't want to be late. Bella already texted me to pick her up, and I'm really worried that we won't make it. I just don't want to miss this wedding, especially Jack and Elena's. You know their story, right?"
Kyra felt a pang of guilt at Alex's apology, realizing that he was genuinely worried about missing the wedding. Despite her frustration, she softened slightly, nodding in understanding.
As Alex's gaze fell upon the wedding invitation in Kyra's trembling hands, a rush of memories flooded his mind, carrying him back to the day he first met Jack and Elena.
Jack and Elena's love story was not one of sunshine and rainbows, but rather a tale of darkness and redemption. They met in the most unlikely of places - a dimly lit bar in the heart of the city's underworld. Jack was a troubled soul, haunted by demons from his past and seeking solace in the bottom of a bottle. Elena, on the other hand, was a mysterious figure, her past shrouded in secrecy and her heart guarded by walls of steel.
Their first encounter was anything but romantic. Jack stumbled into the bar, his senses dulled by alcohol and his mind clouded by despair. Elena watched him from the shadows, her keen eyes taking in every detail of his broken form. There was something about him that drew her in, a flicker of hope amidst the darkness that consumed her.
As they exchanged words in the dimly lit corner of the bar, Jack and Elena discovered a shared love for the macabre and the forbidden. They reveled in each other's darkness, finding solace in the shadows that haunted their souls.
But theirs was not a love free from pain and suffering. They faced countless obstacles along the way, from betrayals and betrayals to heartache and loss. Jack's demons threatened to consume him at every turn, while Elena's past loomed over them like a dark cloud, threatening to tear them apart.
