Chapter 6 The Past

Ravens POV

"What the heck?!" I said completely confused at the meaning of the words on the screen.

Everyone crowded around me and asked what I had said. When I read it to them it said 

"The hour of departure has arrived, and you're meant to die. But, I can save you if I see."

"What does that mean?" Alex asked me.

"Well the hour of departure has arrived, means the time of someone's death has come or is about to happen" I said.

"But what about, I can save you if I see" Jasmine asked.

"Obviously, I is Raven and in this situation you is Liam" Jake said.

"Wait. That light would have killed me!?!?!" Liam yelled.

"Yup. I saw it, it was pretty gruesome. Your head was cracked open and blood was everywhere" I said disgusted by the mere thought of it.

"Wait a minute!" Alex yelled getting our attention.

"What?" Jake asked. 

"Raven just said I quote I saw it" Alex said looking at me suspiciously.

"What do you mean you saw it?" Luke asked. 

It was then that I realized that I would have to share something with these people who had been my friends since before I could even remember. I realized that if I had the choice to tell anyone, I was grateful that it was them.

"Only three people know about this so don't tell anyone or bad things can happen" I said seriously. I made eye contact with each and every one of them till they all swore they wouldn't tell another soul.

"Who?" Luke asked. Everyone looked at me curiously but Hope. I looked at her silently asking permission till she gave me a small nod.

"My mom, my dad, and..." I took a deep breath and said "Hope".

"Wait Hope knows about this" Luke yelled. Everyone looked at her wanting to know why I had trusted her with the knowledge but not them. 

"Yes, she was one of the first people to find out" I said quietly remembering why she was one of the few to know about my supposed gift. 

"Why do you sound so sad?" Liam asked me. 

I looked at Hope "Can I tell them?" she nodded back.

"Well once upon a time, when me and Hope were kids, we loved to travel with each other. " I started.

"Sure we couldn't travel far and our parents were always there but, it was something we enjoyed doing. We would go to the playgrounds, parks, ponds, lakes, woods, and our favorite was the beach." I continued, reminiscing over the memories. 

"Hold up just a second" Jake interrupted "you guys hate the ocean." 

"May I continue" I asked Jake. He just nodded.

"Well one day me and Hope were at the beach with our parents, mine were still together at the time. We were only in about two feet high of water so our parents weren't really noticing what we were doing. They were just keeping track of how far out we went. So we were playing around, splashing each other, and goofing off. Then it happened, I had my first vision. At only seven years old I stopped and saw Hope, my best friend, killed by a shark less than a foot away from me. Then all of a sudden everything was back to normal, I looked next to me and Hope was there. I remember sighing with relief. I was so happy I pulled her in for a hug right as a shark lunged out of the water. Hope only had minor injuries. But that was the first time I ever saw a death." I ended quietly. Hope and I both had tears in our eyes when I finished. 

"What happened after that?" Jasmine asked. 

"Well, five things happened after the shark attack

1. I was traumatized and wouldn't talk to anyone but my mom till I saw Hope was okay

2. Hope recovered from her injuries with only scars left" I said while hope showed her scar on her thigh.

"3. When I saw Hope was okay my mom asked me how I knew the shark was coming

4. I explained to my mom how I saw it happen and pulled Hope in for a hug out of relief

5. My mom accepted my gift, at least that's what she calls it, while my dad was afraid of it, a curse he said. So afraid he packed up and left both me and my mom." I said.

"I just remembered something" Hope interrupted "that day you said the same thing in English" 

"What" I said.

"I never told you but that day your eyes rolled into the back of your head and you repeated three times, 'The hour of departure has arrived, and you're meant to die. But, I can save you if I see'" Hope said. 

"That's it!!" Luke yelled. 

"What?" I asked.

"I can save you if I see means if Raven can see your death she can also prevent it" Luke said.
