"Mom where are you?" I yelled. I was dragging Liam around to try and find her. He looked so nervous to be meeting her as my mate this time.
"In the kitchen honey" She yelled back. I got excited my mom was a great cook and I always wanted whatever she was making. I ran in to find her seasoning steak and basting potatoes.
"Yes!" I yelled thinking of how good it was going to be.
"Honey when am I going to meet you other mate" she said turning around.
"Oh hi Liam. What are you doing here?" she asked confused.
I gave her a look and she squealed then jumped up and down. This looked really weird because she had a potato in her hands.
She dropped it and ran over to hug Liam while I dropped onto my knees in agony. Liam immediately looked worried then he heard me yell "Why?" while holding the potato.
"Why would some one do this to you potato? You didn't deserve this!" I cried. While my mom and Liam started laughing.
"Don't listen to them potato they don't mean it" I whispered. When my mom stopped laughing she grabbed the potato out of my hands rinsed it off and said "see, good as new".
Then she looked over at Liam confused sniffed the air and said curiously "What are you?"
He looked nervously at me while I got excited and said in an announcer voice "Who wants to play 'Guess the species' starring Liam and your wonderful host...Me! Raven". I yelled holding a spoon.
Mom whispered "just roll with it" to Liam who looked amused.
"Mom step right up and try to guess what Liam is."
She lifted her nose up and sniffed the air. What the heck is she doing? I thought. 'She's trying to smell distinct traits in his species' Sky said quietly.
Mom looked at Liam and said "Not werewolf, vampire, witch, fae, elemental, or mermaid. Right?"
"Yeah" he said looking amazed that she got all that from a scent.
"How did you get that from a scent?" I asked.
"Well a werewolf smells very earthly, vampires smell like death and blood usually, witches and faes usually don't have a scent, elementals only smell of their element, and mermaids smell like salt water" She said counting on her fingers as she went.
She walked closer to Liam as he got more nervous and tense with every step she took. When she got close enough she closed her eyes took a deep breath and we waited. She snapped her eyes open causing me and Liam to jump.
"Got it" she said happily. "What?" we asked to see if she really had figured it out.
"Shapeshifter" She said looking at us for confirmation.
"How did you get it?" I asked.
"Well I had eliminated every other option before I remembered shape shifters still existed"
"Yeah we're still around" Liam said kinda awkwardly.
I heard someone knocking on the door and I realized that it was probably Blake. I looked at my mom and mouthed the word 'Blake' at her confused face. She nodded her head and mind linked me.
'Honey go let him in I'll keep Liam distracted for now while you tell Blake about having another mate. Ok?'
'Thanks mom your the best'
'Anytime honey, anytime'
I walked over to the door took a deep breath and opened it. Immediately I was wrapped into a hug.
