The next morning as the three awoke from their slumber, more peaceful than nights before, got up for the day.  Jamie and Will packed their things and head to the front gate of the outpost. There stood an NCR soldier, guarding the both buildings, intently stared at both of them.

"State your business here civilians!" Yelled the guard.

"Sorry but our friend was supposed to meet us out here by this time. We just have to go in to say goodbye," said Jamie.

"I'm sorry ma'am but no civilian can enter."

"Please," she pleaded.

"Once again ma'am, no can do."

"Let me do this," said Will.

"I'm former NCR. I was an NCR contractor," said Will firmly.

"Former eh? Still a no sir."

"Don't worry Fredricks," said the Ranger. "I was supposed to meet them inside."

"Oh sorry sir. I didn't know these were the two you wanted to meet."

"C'mon you two, right over here," called out the Ranger.

As both Will and Jamie followed the Ranger, they turned to see some wooden tables. All three sat down at the table with looks of hesitancy.

"So," said the Ranger. "You two are going to New Vegas."

"Yeah," said Jamie sadly.

"Well," he said. "I want to wish you two safe travels, and just to tell you both. New Vegas isn't what it seems."

"Why is that," said Will.

"People there aren't what they seem to be. I think there's something deeper to all those casinos than what they show. But I could be wrong."

"Well we'll take that into consideration," said Will.

"Please do," he said. "Also, Jamie, be safe.

Jamie blushing, replies, "Will do."

Ranger smiling back at Jamie, the two lock eyes, with a gaze of passion, but suddenly Will interjects.

"Um, hello?" Will utters abruptly. "We we're saying goodbye," in an agitated tone.

"Oh yes," said Ranger in embarrassment. "So I wish you two safe travels."

"As to you," said Will getting up from the table.

Motioning for Jamie to get up as well, she slowly does, taking a methodical action to her steps as to stall. Will noticing the slight movements she's taking, turns back in frustration. With no words to say, he looks down at Jamie, and she in turn is giving a look of a child begging would.

"Alright, do what you have to do," says Will. "But I'm not waiting."

Walking away, Jame turns around to the Ranger with the look of 1000 questions with only 1000 words to say it with.

"What's up Jam-"

Leaning up to him, kissed him on the cheek, and immediately pulls back, embarrassed by what she has done.

"I'm sorry," she says.

"It's alright," says the Ranger putting his hand on her face.

"I know K-"

"Stop." he says. "I know you felt this, but I don't know if we can. We'll be separated by the fact that we'll be doing separate things. So we can't be together."

Jamie pulling away from the Ranger's grasp, walks away in disappointment and sadness.

"Goodbye Jaime," said the Ranger with a sad tone.
