He killed himself. In an essence, it was kind of my fault.

What have I done?

I stood there in complete and utter shock. I couldn't believe this happened. Because of me. The officer we came with walked over to me.

"Mr. Mahone, you need to go home with this young lady," he said pointing to Maya. "Ashley you'll need to stay with me, we have a lot of work that needs to be done." We all nodded. "Leave now please." He told Maya and I.

We walked to my car and got inside. I violently hit the steering wheel in anger and buried my face into the palm of my hands.

"Austin it's okay..." She said rubbing my back.

"No, it's not okay! This is all my fault!" I said tears forming in my eyes. She sat there frowning, unsure of what to say.

"Let's go home and we can talk about it then..." She said, her hand still on my back.

"I should take you home. Your mom will get worried."

"She's not home, she won't be until Sunday. She went to Florida for a wedding."

"Do you want to stay at my house then?"

"If that's okay with you and your mom...then sure..."

"My mom will be fine with it. She's working an overnight shift tonight and she won't be home until 9 tomorrow morning. I'll text her and let her know."

She nodded and I started the car and began driving home.

I sent my mom a quick text to let her know Maya would be staying over until Sunday. She replied okay.

When we arrived at my house, I led her up to my bedroom. It was almost 11:00 at night.

"Shit!" she said. "I forgot pajamas."

I walked to my dresser and got one of my black trukfit t-shirts for her to wear and a pair of grey sweats. I tossed them on the bed. "Here you go," I said. She stood there for a minute. "Don't look!" She giggled. I turned around and closed my eyes while she got changed. "Okay you can turn around now." She said. I smiled. "You look cute in my clothes," I laughed. She giggled and said, "thank you!"

I wanted to forget that this day even happened, but I managed to somewhat forget about everything for a little bit.

Maya sat on my bed scrolling through her phone.

"Goodnight," I said turning off the lights and walking out the door.

"Where are you going?" She asked. I flicked the lights back on.

"In the spare bedroom."

"Don't..."

"Why? Is there something bad in there?" I said referring to her psychic abilities that I remembered she had.

"No...stay here...with me."

"Huh?"

"Sleep in here with me," she said softly smiling. I smiled back. Turning the ceiling light off, she flicked the lamp that was next to my bed on and motioned for me to come next to her.

"Let me get changed first." I said. She stared at me.

"Don't look!" I said mocking her. We both laughed. She buried her face in the pillow as I quickly got undressed and threw on a pair of sweats that matched the ones I gave her and a white t-shirt. "Ok I'm done!" I laughed. She turned around and giggled. I hopped into the bed next to her.
