Andrew's POV
It was Christmas Eve and Andrew wished he was with Rose. Aunt Cynthia made him go to her work party. He didn't want to be there, but there was no other choice. He was nineteen, he shouldn't have to keep doing what Aunt Cynthia wanted. But he lived under her roof, and what she said, went.
Andrew sighed as he sat in the corner of the room. He sat with Uncle Seth who looked just as bored as him. Andrew wasn't a fan of Aunt Cynthia but Uncle Seth was pretty cool. Seth stood up and offered Andrew a small smile. "Hey, Andrew, it's almost over. Try not to die of boredom. Then you can be with Rose." Andrew smiled small as Seth walked away.
He wasn't alone for more than a minute when a girl his age sat down next to him. She was pretty, but Andrew knew she was nothing compared to Rose. The girl smiled and held out her hand. "I'm Lizzy, Thalia's daughter. What's your name?"
As much as Andrew didn't want to, he reached his hand out and shook hers. "Nice to meet you, I'm Andrew."
"Is Cynthia your mom?" Lizzy questioned.
Andrew laughed and shook his head. "No, she's my aunt."
Lizzy nodded her head and fell silent. She started back up again. "Where's your mom?"
Andrew tensed up at the questioned. He looked down at his lap as he replied, "She's gone."
He tensed up even more as Lizzy placed a hand on his arm. "I'm sorry Andrew."
"It's fine," Andrew stated simply as he pulled his arm away from her.
"How old are you?"
Andrew shook his head and said, "You sure do ask a lot of questions."
"Can't help if I'm curious," Lizzy shrugged.
"I'm nineteen, you?"
"Eighteen. How far from here do you live?" Lizzy questioned.
"Not far," Andrew replied dryly. He was tired of this girl and this conversation. He had no interest in socializing at all.
Lizzy fell silent and Andrew made no effort to speak. Out of no where Lizzy blurted, "We should go out sometime."
"I'll have to pass," Andrew said without looking at her.
"Oh come on it'll be fun," Lizzy pleaded. Andrew only shook his head. "Do you have something against me?"
"No, I just have a girlfriend," Andrew stated as he finally turned to Lizzy. Shock washed over her face as she stood up.
"Well that girl is lucky. Nice to meet you, Andrew," Lizzy said before walking away. Andrew knew he was a little rude but didn't care. He wasn't obligated to go on a date with that girl.
Andrew focused his attention on an angry Aunt Cynthia. She sat down where Lizzy was sitting moments ago and let out a breath.
"Hello Aunt Cynthia," Andrew said.
"Now why would you blow off a pretty girl like Lizzy? She is very intelligent and beautiful," Aunt Cynthia said, obviously annoyed.
"In case you forget, aunt, I have a girlfriend," Andrew responded as he shrugged his shoulders.
Aunt Cynthia's face softened as she said quietly, "I know. She's a very good girl, too. I guess Thalia is my best friend and she wanted you and Lizzy to hit it off."
Andrew placed his hands behind his head and said simply, "Sorry Aunt C, but I'm taken."
"Listen, I'm going to have to stay the rest of the night. Get Seth and he can drive you back home. You can spend the rest of the evening with Rose," Aunt Cynthia said.
