My alarm buzzed, dragging me out of my sleep.
Oh god
Today is the first day of school
I felt nerves deepen in my stomach and I tore off the covers. I walked in to the bathroom and started to run the shower. I washed my hair under the warm water, wishing I could stay here all day, where it was warm and safe, away from it all. I the hot water started to run out so I hopped out of the shower, I dried myself and started applying some light makeup, a bit of mascara and tinted moisturiser. I pulled on a crop top and some light wash denim shorts, I shoved my feet into my pale blue converse. I pulled my tote bag out of my wardrobe and decided on using it as my school bag. I put my iPad mini in my bag and a few pencils and pens, and a couple of empty exercise books and ran downstairs, I could only manage eating a banana, I brushed my teeth and sprayed some perfume on, the doorbell ring and I instantly knew who was on the other side.
Luke shoot at the door, once again wearing black jeans and a black singlet, he was playing with his lip ring with his teeth, " mornin" he said softly, " mornin" I replied. Mom had already headed off to her new job at the garden centre.
We arrived at school, it wasn't too hot thank god, I didn't need to feel hot. Luke stopped outside the school gate, people were already flooding into the school, chatting to each other. " listen Nina, lay low today, that way, no one will bother you" he said, his icy blue eyes staring at me. He hugged me softly and walked into the school. I clutched my binder in my arms, took a deep breath and walked into the school, I kept having to apologise for walking in to people, they were all giving me weird, bitchy looks as I walked into the student office.
" Hi, you must be Nina" the large lady at the desk said, " that's me" I said quietly, she handed me a timetable, " your first class is biology, you might need this, she handed me a large text book. Yikes, this thing was heavy.
I walked down the hallway to biology, I spotted Luke, he was with a ton of other people, he was laughing at some guy with dyed hair, it was bright red, really strange. The group walked past and I waved at luke, he looked at me for a second and then looked away, instantly I felt hurt, he completely snubbed me, I shook it off and walked into biology.
Turns out, Luke and I were in the same history class, unlucky for me, he ignored me and sat at the back of the class with a couple of guys, one had light brown hair and green-hazel eyes and the other had olive skin and dark brown hair, he was pretty hot but not as hot as Luke.
I walked in and sat down in class, this girl came up to me, " hi, I'm Victoria" she said sweetly, she was really pretty, tall, dark brown hair and chestnut eyes, she was wearing a black mini skirt and a blue crop top with a dolphin embroidered on the front. " hey I'm Nina" I replied, giving her a big smile, she lead me to a seat next to hers, we chatted for most of the class, the teacher was pretty chill and since it was the first day, he let us do whatever. We chatted about gossip, she told me who was who, and who to stay away from, who was popular etc, it helped. We also talked about clothes and classic girl stuff before the bell rung signalling the end of the day. I started to stand up, " hey can I get your number" Victoria asked, " sure!" I said as she handed me her phone, I set my name as Nina and a angel emoji, before putting in my number, " I'll text you later" she said smiling, while pulling me into a light hug.
I begun walking home, I felt quite angry about the whole Luke ignoring me situation, it sucked because I really thought we were getting closer as friends, and deep down I was hoping it would lead to something more.
