Chapter 12: Embers

The silence was so deafening that the sobs emitting from the water Nin were enough to drive even the sanest of all mad- "Oh god Kai...I-I..C-couldn't-" -The elder of the two hurriedly captured her face in his hands and brought her head into the warmth of his chest. Where she had fought diligently to calm herself- "Sh..it's alright Nya, everything's alright now. I'm right here, don't worry.." -The younger had come to grips with her surroundings and forced herself to swallow the growing lump of questions she had so that she may relay her brother the situation- "Kai, I'm not the only one that was taken, the gang is in shambles the next corridor over!" -Said man had perked up at this instantly, and with a fire reignited jumped up from his knees, all while tugging his sister up with him and making a break for the hallway- "We've got to hurry, I bet there's more of those fiends 'round this dum-Offph-" Kai couldn't finish his sentence as he ran face first into a solid body. One full of muscles and with a body heat radiating so hot he swore the places he made contact with seared. Nya tumbled to the side when Kai let her arm go in accordance with the collision, she made eye contact with the man in front of them both. The man who looked very much like her sibling at the side of her- "It's been a while red." -He felt uneasy, the voice thick like blood and as gritty as the sand pilled at his knees that cushioned his fall. His head snapped up, it couldn't be, how could it?- "Don't give me that look, you knew that I was coming for you.." -His eyes widened to the size of two full moons, how could he have escaped, there just was no way!- "H-how, how are you here? You weren't supposed to be real! You're just a figment of my mind and subconscious there's no way that you would be standing there as real as you are! Made of flesh and bone, THERE'S JUST NO FUCKING WAY!"
