"Carrie!" I heard my moms voice coming from downstairs. I leapt out of bed and softly grunted, frustrated at myself. I hated waking up for school, it was so boring and the day felt like it dragged on and on for eternity!

I dashed down the stairs and went into the kitchen to find my mom and dad in front of me. I too a seat near my dad and started to stretch my arms. My mom placed a plate of bread and bacon in front of me and I began to eat.

"So Maria from the PTO said that you guys are gonna be having a new student in your class!" My mom broke the silence. "Yeah I'm bursting with joy." I said in a monotone voice. "Oh c'mon sweetie! She said that you should try and talk to him! He's new and he will need new friends." She smiled brightly.

"Mom I already have Luke! He's the only friend I need. I really am not the best at making new friends." I carried my plate to the dish washer and stood in front of my mom. "Honey I think your mother is right. Everyone needs a new friend." My father interrupted the flow. I sighed and finally gave in.

"Okay fine! I will!" My mom grabbed me by the cheeks and said, "That's the Carrie I know." I began to walk up the stairs but stopped myself. "Hey when is he supposed to be coming?" My mom dashed to the front step and said "Today, honey! No backing it now." She cleaned her wet hands with her apron.

I marched up the stairs and was having a hard time picking out what I was going to wear so I called Luke. I'm not really that girly and I don't have many girl friends, so he was my only option. "What's going on Care bear?" Luke answered. "Never call me that again!" I began to laugh.

"Anyways um I called to ask what I should wear today." I mumbled whilst looking through my closet. "Oh hoping to impress the new Australian guy?" He sarcastically replied. "How do you even know he's Australian? And my mom asked me to show him around and be his buddy." I smiled.

"Well that's what someone told me!" He defended himself. "Okay anyways, should I wear that sweater you got me last week or the band t-shirt?" I placed both on my bed. "Oh totally the penguin sweater! It's adorable on you and the new guy will love it." I could feel him smiling.

"Yeah, yeah enough about the new guy! Are you coming to pick me up or not?" I grabbed my glasses and put them on. "Yeah ill be there in 5." He hung up.

I wiggled into my white skinny jeans and put on my new grey penguin sweater. I began to brush my teeth and brushed my hair into a high ponytail. I grabbed my shoes and slid them on and dashed down the stairs reaching for my backpack.

"By mom, by dad!" I was just about to walk out when my mom stopped me. "Forgetting something?" She shook my door key in her hands and I reached out to grab them. "Thank you! Luke's here now, bye mom!" I swiftly kissed her cheek and ran out the door and Luke blew his car horn frightening me.

I got into the passenger seat and yawned. "Had a good nights rest?" Luke drove out of the parking lot. "Kind of." I look out the window. Luke takes his free arm and presses it against my forehead. "You feel fine." He puts it back onto his lap.

"Did I mention how much I love that sweater?" Luke says for what feels like the millionth time this week. "Yeah you have." I jerk my head to look in his direction and he's looking at the road.

"We'll I just-I just really like penguins." He chuckles lightly. We pull up to the school yard and he parks his car. I step out of the car and wait for Luke to step out. Luke comes by my side and we walk the halls to my locker.

"So you excited to finally meet the new kid? He's in our first period class." Luke opens my locker for me. "Nope." I look into my mirror and fix my glasses. "Why do you always wear those stupid Ray Bans? You do know that you have contacts right?" Luke scolds me playfully. "Yes I do and I don't feel like wearing them! They're too time consuming in the morning! Especially mornings like these." I grab my books and close my locker.

"Whatever! Lets get to class." He leads the way to our History Class and I take a seat in the front while he sits behind me. The teacher emerges thought the door followed by a handful of students. I take out my book and our homework that was due today.

"Pass your homework to the front." I hear her say. I receive all the homework and leave them on her desk. She thanks me and I take my seat in the front once again.

Ten minutes into class the door opens and in emerges a tall boy with light blue hair, wearing a rolling stones muscle tank top and some ripped black jeans. He shows no vague emotion and I can't tell whether he is happy to be here or not.

The classroom is filled with silence and the teacher walks up to the boy and whispers a few words to him before saying, "Class this is Michael. He's new to the school and I know that you will treat him nicely and show him around. He gives a small wave to the class and a slight smile before sitting next to me in the front and dropping his bag to the floor.

"So we have an upcoming project and you must have a partner." She spoke happily. Oh no, now I'd for sure be with Michael now. I turned around to face Luke and he just smiled and raised his eyebrows signalling to Michael.

"Carrie! You're going to be paired with our newest student, Michael!" I knew this was coming at some point and I just turned my head to the side and stared at him. He looked at me with such an emotionless face and opened his new book, pretending I didn't even exist. That's just the way I wanted it though; I wanted him to always act like I didn't exist.
