It was finally Friday, and Michael and I had made up. We had all grown closer with each other, and now we were each getting ready for the party. Luke was going to pick Michael up and then come to my house and we’d drive to the party together.

I had been planning on what I was planning on wearing for the past few days, and now I was sure if it was any good. I planned on wearing a black long sleeved shirt with one of my skater skirts and my shiny flats? Just to be on the safe side I wore my opaque leggings under the skirt. I applied a thin line of eyeliner and a bit of mascara. After waiting for them to come I decided to curl the ends of my hair.

I grabbed my purse and looked at the clock which read 8:04. The party had started almost an hour ago, and Luke still wasn’t here.  Finally I heard him honk outside, and I stood up. I dashed down the stairs to see my parents in the living room. “I’m going now.” I smiled. “not so fast young lady. Are you going dressed like that?” My dad pointed. I looked down at what I was wearing and had not found anything wrong about it.

“Honey just leave her alone,” My mom giggled. “Let her have fun.” She smiled at me. Luke honked again. “Coming god damn it Luke I’m going to kill you if you honk one more time.” I yelled out the window. “Bye mom, bye dad.” I hugged them and walked out.

I sat in the backseat, because Michael just had to steal shotgun. “Oh looks like someone’s dressed to impress.” Luke playfully said. “Just shut up and drive, we’re an hour late already.” I pouted. He began to drive onto the turnpike, and I greeted Michael. “So I’m guessing you’re going to be with Ashton for the most part.” Luke started a conversation. “Yeah you ditched us all this week for lunch.” Michael laughed. “Sorry?” I wasn’t sure what to say. I heard my phone ring, and saw that it was Ash. “Put it on speaker.” Luke demanded.

“Hey babe are you guys still coming to the party?”

Babe? When he said that my heart literally melted into my chest.

“Yeah we’re on our way. Luke is just a terrible driver.” I laughed

“Okay. Call me when you’re here.”

“Kay Ash byeeeeee.” I bat my eyelashes even though he couldn’t see me.

“Kay Ash bye.” Michael mimicked me. “Hey babe are you still coming to the party.” Luke tried to sound like Ashton which caused me to laugh so hard that I practically snorted. They all laughed at me. “Please don’t snort at the party, it’ll scare Ashton away.” Luke teased. I opened my bag and put on my lipstick. “Can you please play music?” I pleaded. “Anything but Lana.” Michael practically whined. “Fine play Ariana’s CD, here plug the wire into my phone.” Honeymoon Avenue blared through his speakers.

looked in my rearview mirror and

It seemed to make a lot more sense

Than what I see ahead of us, ahead us

I'm ready to make that turn

Before we both crash and burn

Cause that could be the death of us, the death of us, baby

You know how to drive in rain

You decided not to make a change

Stuck in the same old lane

Going the wrong way home

I didn’t notice Luke turned the CD off and I continued singing.

I feel like my heart is stuck

In bumper to bumper

Traffic, I'm under pressure

Cause I can't have you the way that I want
