"What is wrong, Seth?" Mother asked on the airplane.
I glared at her, "Don't call me that anymore... ever."
My mother rolled her eyes, "I am your mother and I call you what I named you. Anywho, when we arrive to your father's house I simply cannot bear to speak with him. Ugh! He's so much like," she stopped speaking, "Never mind." Was she going to say he was like me? Did she mean it in an offensive way?
I watched a video that Catty and I took of us singing together one time. I would miss her beautiful voice so badly. She was a special ghoul indeed.
"Seth, when do you ever plan on breaking up with that wild werecat?" Mother furrowed her brow.
"Never, Mother!" I nearly yelled, "I love Catty and she is not a 'wild werecat'! She's the most amazing, special, unique, and talented monster I've ever met in my whole entire life! How dare you insult my true love like that?" Mother was speechless and her jaw dropped. I crossed my arms and put on my headphones. I would miss Catty but the music we made together would keep me going.
"Would you turn that ruckus down, Seth?" Mother moaned, covering her ears, "I can hear that!" I quickly lowered the volume on my Icoffin.
"Yes Mother," I sighed. I've argued with her enough for that day.* * *
I arrived at my father's ancient pyramid. Mother looked at me for a while and surprisingly, she hugged me. I hugged her too but I didn't expect that.
"Although you're quite the trouble maker, you're also my son and I will miss you," Mother sighed. We said our last goodbye and I walked into Father's huge pyramid.
"Seth!" I heard my father call. He's always been so kind to me when I was a young child. "Seth, are you here?"
"Yes Father!" I ran into his room. I remembered exactly where it was.
"I missed you, son!" he hugged me.
I smiled, "I missed you as well, father."
"Seth, you seem a little upset. What's bothering you?" Father asked.
I thought, I miss Catty, my ghoulfriend. I didn't say that though.
"Um, nothing," I replied. "But Father, may I ask you to please call me Pharaoh? Seth is kind of, well, I don't know. I don't really like it much."
My father replied, "Yes, of course! Anything for you, son. Now, are you excited for school tomorrow?"
"No," I looked at the floor and frowned.
"Oh Pharaoh, I'm sure you'll have a good time!" he smiled, "Look, I know you're nervous. It's going to turn out fine. I'm sure you'll make lots of friends. You might even attract a special ghoul."
"But father," I told him, "I already have a ghoulfriend. Her name is Catty."
"Catty? What kind of name is that? Is she even a mummy?" he asked.
"Uh, let's not talk about this." Father and I were very close but I knew that he wouldn't approve of me dating a werecat. Catty wasn't just any werecat though.
Father and I walked outside. We talked to a lot of neighbors. Most of them gave me a giant hug and cried, "Seth! The last time I've seen you, you were only a little monster! Aw, you've grown so much!" when I had no idea who they were. I recognized some of their faces though. I remembered my childhood best friend, Nephthys, of course.
"Seth! I missed you so much!" she gave me a great, big hug.
"I missed you too," I grinned. I miss Catty more, no offense, I thought. I actually did miss Nephthys though. We had lots of good times back then. But ghoul, she's changed. She's gotten taller and didn't have glasses anymore like she used to.
We talked to each other for a really long time.
"Hey, do you have a ghoulfriend?" she asked. I nodded. "What's her name?"
"Catty," I replied.
Her eyes lit up, "Catty Noir? Your ghoulfriend is the Catty Noir? Do you think I could meet her and we could become best ghoulfriends forever! Seth, I'm her biggest fan!"
I smiled, "Okay, I'll see what I can do. I really miss her although I just saw her today. Hey, by the way, can you call me Pharaoh?"
She nodded, "Yes, of course! I'm so glad you're back. Really though, how do you miss Catty even though you literally just saw her today?" What did she mean?
"When she's not with me, I feel like a part of me is missing. She's my whole world. I don't know if I'd be able to go on without her," I confessed.
"Oh, Seth. Um, I mean, Pharaoh. You're so sweet," she smiled. "I'm sorry but I'm just used to calling you Seth."
"It's fine," I told her.
"You know, if you need help getting around the school tomorrow, I can help you out and show you around if you want," she offered.
I nodded, "Yeah thanks, Neph." Nephthys was a clawsome friend but I wished Catty were there with us too. I knew that she would probably have a great time.
"Have you ever missed anyone that you love before?" I asked her just out of curiosity.
She was silent for a moment until she finally sighed, "Yes. Yes, I have. I don't anymore though."
"Why not?"
She replied, "Um, it isn't that important. Just forget I said anything about that at all."
"Okay then. If you say so," I said. I couldn't stop thinking about Catty.
My friend must've noticed that I zoned off because she questioned, "What are you thinking about, Pharaoh?"
"Just about how much I miss Catty," I looked off into the distance.
Neph hugged me, "Don't worry, bud. I knew that you and Catty will be together again soon some day."
"Thank you for trying to cheer me up but I just miss her. I mean, I know I'll see her but not for a long time," I sighed. Catty Noir. She was a gem that ghoul.
