Jai's POV

Death.

It occurs every day.

But you never think it'll be you, or anyone around you.

But when it happens, the actual death doesn't affect you.. no.

It's the grieving.

It's the realization that the person that you love and care about, that you've shared so many memories with, will never be seen again. Will never laugh, talk, cry, never do anything again. They'll be gone, and only forever exsist purely in photos and the memories you have left of them.

But I never thought i'd be saying goodbye to my brother at 18, never. The thought never, and really shouldn't have crossed my mind. But now this sick, and twisted dream is reality, and i'm actually one brother down, completely and utterly numb, unaware of what was coming next.

I sat on the beach, the rain pelting down on me and the damp sand surrounding me, causing shivers to run up and down my spine. But I didn't care, I didn't care about anything. It's only been a week, but it feels like years, the agonizing shallow pit in my stomach growing with each minute, my boy yerning to just see my brother again. I never knew what I had until i'd lost it.

*FlashBack*

"Maybe you shouldn't go." Beau said wearily as I straightened my beanie. "Beau, lighten up, it's just a party, my first high school party to be exact." He sighed, and followed me down the hall. "I'm serious Jaidon-" "There will be drugs and alcohol and people who will try to hurt you, yeah, mum told me." I kept on walking, but I was stopped. "Listen to me okay! You don't understand how dangerous and fucked these things actually are." I rolled my eyes. "But you do, you know everything!" I replied with sarcasm.

I shut up after catching his ice cold glare. "I lost my best mate at one of these parties Jai, they aren't safe. You're 16 for god sakes, and it doesn't help that you look fucking 12 either." Should I be insulted? "You'll be targeted, there's sick people in this world." I pushed him away. "You're acting like i'm a baby, I can do what I want.. and who I want!" I added, just to piss him off. Before he could protest, I slipped on my shoes and slammed the door in his face.

What would that dick know.

*Later that night*

I stumbled around, the alcohol affecting every inch of my body. I felt on top of the world, I felt invincible. Someone suddenly put their hand on my shoulder, spinning around I was met by pretty green eyes.. thay belonged to my brother. "Hey Beau!" I slurred, making him scrunch his nose in disgust. "Oh god, how much have you had?" I tried to count, but I failed and just laughed my ass off. "P-Probably just maybe 2." He nodded. "Sure you have." He muttered.

Beau began to lead me out of the house, me now noticing he was taking me away from my fun. I pushed him away from me, making him fall into a pack of huge looking guys. "Watch it faggot!" One spat, pushing Beau. "Sorry, I didn't-" Without anymore words, one of them threw a punch, hitting Beau right in the eye. He fell to the ground, his eyes wide in fear.
