Chapter 5
"Hey, I'm bored." That was the text I sent to Will at 11:30 on Friday.
Ki and I had been "broken up" for about a week now, and everyone was still trying to find out who "she" was.
Since Piper loved drama so much, I officially put her in charge of finding out the identity of this mystery girl. She was acting as though I'd rented out her detective service or something. Taking anonymous tips and such. It was pretty dumb.
I'd been texting Will this entire week, because surprise, surprise, he begged Ava for my number, and surprise, surprise(er), she'd given it to him.
"I wanna ditch. Can you come pick me up?" I hit send. I was really hoping he'd say yes, because I couldn't deal with this place anymore. No matter how much room I had, it always felt cramped. Someone always speculating about me, constantly talking about me. It was sickening.
I'd never actually ditched school before, but it couldn't be that hard, besides, I had lunch and a couple more crappy periods. Nothing too too important.
I sighed and slipped down lower in my seat. My phone buzzed. "Ok." I smiled and replied, "I love you soooo much right now!
I tapped my pen on the side of my desk and sighed. I'd opened Ki's box as soon as I'd gotten home Monday, and it had been a little love letter, saying how I'd changed Ki's life, and how he could "never fall for another girl", and there was also a little silver ring with 'K+M' engraved in it. Of course when I saw that I'd started bawling.
The bell rang while I was lost in thought, and I shot up from my seat, grabbed my stuff, and merged with the crowed of rowdy students.
I went to my locker and shoved everything into my backpack, then headed straight down the hall towards the main exit. I hadn't really thought this through much. My palms were becoming unbearably sweaty, and I was no doubt nervous.
What if I screwed up? What if I got caught? What if I got Will caught? Would he get grounded? He did live with his sister.... could she ground him.
I asked myself about a zillion more questions, and before I knew it, I was out the door. The sun was spilling over the edge of the school's roof, casting just the right light on Will and his silver Prius.
And he'd brought Chik-Fil-A.
For five solid minutes, no on spoke. It was only the noise of us stuffing our faces as will drove us somewhere.
"Where are we going?" I said through a mouth full of fries.
"Nowhere." He said with mustard dotting the corner of his mouth.
"We can't go nowhere!" I exclaimed stubbornly.
"Uh hu!" He teased.
"Nu uh!" I said, sticking out my tongue at him.
Will turned on the radio, and a cool song came on. I danced a little in my seat, laughing and having fun. In the back of my mind, I was thinking, "This is what I should've been doing at my party."
"Who is this?" I wondered aloud.
"It's.....mine." Will said, looking away bashfully.
I listened to the guy's vocal range. He was amazing.
"Whoa! Dude you have chops! No wonder my dad's company wanted to sign you!" I grinned, and Will grinned back. For the rest of the ride, I danced and laughed to Will's music and had fun.
Hey, we were going nowhere, and that's how I liked it.

"Here we are!" Will said, as I stared.
"Will, I don't think I'll ever let you pick where we go agin! This is horrible!" I laughed. Will frowned.
"It's a wine tasting!" He protested, pouting.
"Yes, and we're underaged. This is just a place for a bunch of stuck-up freeloaders to get free wine!" I made a face as I confirmed my theory, by observing that most of the couples there were old, rich, and white.
"Where's your sense of adventure? Your spontaneity? This can be fun!" I rolled my eyes, but before I could come up with a snippy comeback, Will yanked my wrist, and surged forward into the crowd.
The first thing we did, was grab aprons. They were kind of hard to tie in the back, so Will tied mine, and I tied his.
The next thing we did was grab two of the trays of fancy shmanchy wine glasses, and bring them to the table with the wines
Next, without laughing, or cracking a joke, or even smiling, we had to pour wine into the glasses with crazy precision.
Finally, when all the stuffy old people thinned out, Will grabbed a bottle and hid it in his jacket.
We were just about to leave, when an old man noticed us. He started advancing towards us and I panicked.
"Just breathe." Will muttered to me.
"Hey, you! Another round of the 1887 Capbores!" He snapped at us. Something about his tone suggested that he thought we were stupid, and that made me mad.
"Sure thing!" I said, and then turned and poured him a glass of the fancy red liquid.
The man turned to another woman and said, "You can never find good help these days." He throwing a look of disgust our way.
I turned around. "Here's your drink sir." I said smiling sweetly, and without another thought, I dumped the contents of the
drink onto his head.
"C'mon Will! Let's go!" I said, grabbing my stuff and a bottle of wine.
Will did the same, and we hopped into his car, driving away.
