Chapter 7

"Seriously Marzi, we like never hang out anymore. You need to come over or something. We could watch a movie and eat ridiculous junk food! Oh, and you could sleep over and-"

"Han'!" I cut her off.

"Yes?" She asked innocently. I could just imagine her now, poised atop her dresser, one leg crossed over the other as she rambled into her phone. I hated to turn her down like this, and she had a point. We hadn't really hung out in a while because since Ki and I had our "thing", the only person I'd been hanging out with was Will.

"I'd love to hang out Hannah, just not....tonight." I said, switching the phone from one ear to another as I hastily tried to paint my nails a fluorescent yellow color. Will's favorite.

"Oh come on Marzia. You're hurting, I know. Ki cut you deep. But you can't stay in a slump forever. Lazing about your house eating oreos and watching day time television. Is this what you want for yourself? You have to taste, touch, feel again! How can you feel it if you're numb!?"

I rolled my eyes, as I tried to prop my toe on my vanity table with little to no luck.

"Hannah, as nice of a speech as that was, I'm not moping. All of my senses are in tact. The reason I can't hang out tonight is because I-.....have plans." I had abruptly cut myself off from saying, 'plans with Will', realizing with an overwhelming shame that neither Hannah, nor Shea new who he was.

"Plans?" Hannah asked, her voice rising and becoming shrill on the end. I laughed, since this was Hannah, it came out sounding like 'plans???-eyebrows-'.

"Yes plans," I said all of the sudden in a panic as I noticed a familiar Prius pulling into my driveway.

"And now if you'd excuse me, I'm about to be late! By Han!" From where I was in my stalker/sniper position I could clearly see Will turning off the ignition in his car. He looked good in his dark sweater. It really made him stand out against the night.

I allowed myself a minute or two more to drool before deciding to go down and meet him at the door.

Turning to leave the room I checked myself out in the mirror first.

My strange strwberry-ish blonde hair was pulled back into a sort of messy-casual pony tail with two idol strands along either side of my bangs, framing my face.

I'd kept my makeup neutral, with the slightest touch of eyeshadow, blush, and some lip balm. Noticing that Will had never before seen me in makeup that wasn't invisible or terribly sweated out, I decided to go all out for this one.

My outfit had been the tricky part. But I'd finally decided on a burgundy skater skirt, a cropped white tank, and a sheer sort of shall like sweater thing that the lady in forever21 said made me look, "sexy and sophisticated, like a tigress on the prowl". I'm not really sure what that meant, but I hoped what ever it was would be good enough to make Will ask me out tonight.

That's right folks, you heard it hear first, Marzi Santos wanted Will Foxx (yes that is his last name, too cute!) to ask her out.

Since the breakup I'd been spending more and more time with Will, and had ultimately decided to just stop resisting my feelings for him. I was giving into him. Him and his smile, and his laugh like Santa Claus. Him and the way his eyes crinkled ever so slightly hinting at his Chinese heritage. I was beginning to fantasize about every part of him, and the closer we became the more curious I was as to what his lips would feel like one mine, and what his hands would feel like in mine. I only hoped that tonight I'd find out.

Sighing, I did a little twirl in the mirror, before heading downstairs to meet the familiar chime of our doorbell. It was a sound I'd come to know in all of my thirteen years of living at this house, and was incredibly mundane to me, however for some reason, this time it made butterflies erupt in my stomach.
