Chapter 6
I could not have had a better night.
Waking up the morning after I skipped with Will was possibly the most exciting thing I'd ever done.
I stretched, grabbed my glasses from my bedside table, and pulled my laptop out of my drawer.
As the brightly colored screen whirred to life, I rubbed my eyes under my specs. The after affects of the alcohol I'd had last night were kicking in, but despite that I felt great.
I clicked around for a while, bored, when I noticed something.
Sitting on top of my dresser was the little black coupon card that I'd gotten from the "Everything Store" still advertising that silly "Build-A-Boy" website,
I frowned at the card as I passed my thumb across it's smooth surface, noticing some small print I hadn't seen before.
"Expiration date: 9/10/13"
Huh. Last time I checked it hadn't had an expiration date.
Shrugging, I turned the card over in my hands once more, inspecting both sides. No matter what, there was still an expiration date. I placed it down on my bed beside me, and hastily typed in the URL.
"Let's see what this is all about...." I muttered.
I tapped the enter key, and watch the entire website unfold before me.
The colors bright and vibrant, and the type bold and funny, it didn't look very different from the original build a bear website.
The page was littered with pictures of all different types of girls, with some of the hottest boys I'd ever seen.
My interest was now peeked, so I dragged the mouse over to click on the "Create your Own!" button.
The format was simple, the bright yellow numbered tabs on the side told me how many steps there were.
My eyes skimmed the page, raking over the instructions.
"Choose a template"
"Huh." I muttered. On the page were displayed an assortment of Ken Dolls to choose from. They came in all different shapes and sizes. I chose one with tanned skin. He looked like he might've been mixed. Either way, his gorgeous chocolate curls were both captivating and exotic. They compelled me to choose him.
As I hovered the mouse over the doll I realized why he was so tropical looking. The caption said "Brazilian Beauty".
I laughed softly to myself. "Well that's masculine." I skimmed over a few, but finally settled on the first one I had.
By now I was ecstatic as I clicked on step two. Step two was background.
"Does your boy come from..... a) A broken home, b) A wealthy family, c) A normal family, d) The whom duh!" I grinned.
As much as I wanted to choose "d", I refrained and chose "b". I may or may not have been thinking of twighlight when I'd chosen it. I mean c'mon, what girl doesn't want a rich boyfriend?
I was surprised to see that it was time to move on.
The next step was interests. Seemed simple enough.
"Does your guy like..... a) sports, b) music, c) cars, or d) macaroni and Cheese?"
Even though I absolutely despised macaroni and cheese, I chose "d" because it was funny.
Step four was a little less challenging.
"Is your guy.... a) chill, b) overprotective, c) underprotective, or d) indifferent?"
For once I didn't want to pick "d". "Indifference" scared me. I would hate to be in one of those "zombie" relationships. Never being thrilled,...but never being miserable either. For a moment I stopped to think about how dumb I was being. Seriously Marzia, it's a doll. But that only lasted for a bit before I chose answer "b". Again, Edward Cullen popped into my head. I thought it was cute how he was sort of overprotective of Bella. I wondered if my Brazilian Butte would be anything like that. Then I remembered he was a doll.
Step five was strange. I was expecting some more questions about my guy, but they just turned out to be about me.
I reluctantly filled out my questionnaire and clicked the "free coupon" button underneath. It asked me to put in the code. I frowned, not understanding at first, but then I got it, and grabbed the card typing in the series of random numbers above the expiration date.
I hit order your boy, and sighed. I felt a sudden sense of accomplishment knowing I'd just done that. In two days time, I'd have my own cute-little-boy doll to play with. I'd decided to call him Alessio, after my great grandfather.
"Well, in two days time I'll have a new boy Ki, and in two days time, he'll be a better boyfriend then you ever were." And with that, I snapped my laptop shut, and went to go shower.
