Note to reader: Chapter 12 took place in the beginning of December. This chapter takes place a year and two months later. It is March 2016.
Afternoon
Location: orphanage's field
Igneous: hey Mari.
Mariah: hi Neo. (Igneous)
Igneous: I'm gonna go out right now, are you okay with that.
Mariah: yeah okay, do you have passes to go.
Igneous: (whispers) I mean to the human world.
Mariah: why are you gonna go there by yourself again??!!
Igneous: calm down babe, its all gonna be alright. I've been there alone tons of times. Nothing will happen to me.
Mariah: are you sure?
Igneous: yeah, I'll be okay, they won't catch me. I won't cause trouble over there, they won't even know that I'm not like them.
Mariah: fine. But why are you going?
Igneous: I'm going to visit an old friend.
Mariah: you've never mentioned that you had a friend out there...
Igneous: well I do, and you let me go. So see you later Mari, love you. (kisses Mariah and leaves)
Mariah: yeah okay.... Love you too!
Raiden: (walks to Mariah) hey, how's it going?
Mariah: ...oh..I'm okay. Well how about you?
Raiden: I'm fine, I guess. What's wrong?
Mariah: you haven't read my mind?
Raiden: nope
Mariah: Igneous went to the normal society again.
Raiden: ....oh he did... So you're worried. Well he'll be alright.
Mariah: yeah .. I guess so. Well thanks for cheering me up Ray.
Raiden: you know I don't think its right that you put a nick name on me. Because if 'Neo' finds out he might be jealous.
Mariah: oh whatever, he'll be okay with it. Well are you ready for next week?
Raiden: I've been ready.
Mariah: oh wow. Sounds to me like someone's showing emotions. What is that one you just did? Oh yeah! Being too confident or in other words cocky.
Raiden: you know very well what I think is happening.
Mariah: yeah, yeah. You think you're getting your emotions back. So tell me why is it bad again?
Raiden: well, what if I do get them back. And well.... I go back to .... Not being tough anymore. That wouldn't be good.
Mariah: look I told you I think its something good. You'll be alright, you know why?
Rauden: why?
Mariah: because you're very strong, you won't let any emotions bother you. Just trust me you'll be alright. (smiles at Raiden)
Raiden: thanks (hugs Mariah)
Mariah: oh.. You really are showing emotions. Hahaha just messing with you. ( pokes Raiden's cheek)
Raiden: yeah.. Well whatever. ( starts walking away) Mariah!
Mariah: yes Raiden!
Raiden: (turns to look at Mariah) (smiles)
Mariah: I'm proud of you!
Five hours later
Location: Mariah's room
Igneous: Mariah!
Mariah: oh god, what happened to you??!
Igneous: some humans noticed me using my powers. And well they didn't like it. They started beating me up. But im okay now Julian healed me.
Mariah: yeah sure he healed you but what about your black eye and your bleeding nose. Also look at those scrapes.
Igneous: they'll heal, Julian said it'll take all night. But they'll heal, don't worry.
Mariah: I told you not to go.
Igneous: yeah well I went.
Mariah: yeah well look how you came back. And all just to see a friend.
Igneous: it wasn't just a friend. Its someone that can help us.
Mariah: help us how? By getting you beat up?!! Yeah, sure , plenty of help. If course not!
Igneous: look calm down. I mean with our powers. This person can help us get rid of our powers. All we have to do is show up, let him do what he needs to do. And then we get paid for it. C'mon we can live normally, with the normal society. Just like how you used to live with you mother. He'll pay us good, we can get your house back, and move in. We'll have a family and we will all live happily. So what do you say?
Mariah: I would love to-
Igneous: great! Pack your things we'll leave tomorrow.
Mariah: no, Igneous wait. I mean I would love to go back to that normal life, but I can't. I need to get revenge for my mother's death. And I won't be able to do that if I get rid of my powers. So I'm sorry Igneous but I can't go, not now.
Igneous: oh well.... Okay.
Mariah: yeah, I'm sorry. I hope you understand.
Igneous: well.....I don't, I don't at all! I'm sorry but if you aren't going then I am. So I guess this means we're breaking up now. I'm sorry but I guess this is the best for us. Don't ever talk to me again. I hope you live a happy life with Raiden,and say goodbye to everyone else in the morning. Goodbye Mariah. (Runs out of Mariah's room)
Mariah: nooooo!!!!!! .........Igneous, why now? (Cries herself to sleep)
Morning
Raiden: (knocks on door) Mariah? Are you awake? C'mon we still need to practice. I'm coming inside.
Mariah: (comes out of bathroom) oh... hey Ray.
Raiden: he left?
Mariah: yeah, and well its okay. We can still do this.
Raiden: are you sure ?
Mariah: yeah if he decided to leave its okay, I don't mind.
Raiden: so you guys aren't going out anymore?
Mariah: no. You know what, we need to go practice, so let's go.
( grabs Raiden's hand)
Raiden: I don't think this is right, you shouldn't hold my hand.
Mariah: why not? I mean I don't have a boyfriend anymore, so its okay.
Raiden: well yeah but I mean what if-
Mariah: you fall for me. Yeah well its okay, I've been interested in you anyways. Just c'mon.
Raiden: no, Mariah listen. Are you sure about this? I mean I read your mind, you aren't lying. But are you actually sure?
Mariah: yeah, look I'm not a little girl, I'll be 14 next week. I can live without him. But not without getting revenge for my mother's death. So I have to grow up. Thats just how its going to be. And we'll be best friends, or at least for now.
Raiden: well then okay, let's go practice.
Mariah's POV
After practice we told everyone else what happened. They all understood, and they all agreed to stick to the plan. I'm glad I had them next to me.
