Where am I?

Jonathan's eyes moved around the dark room, his vision like static against what little light had entered.

Who am I?

Something shifted in the corner of the room and he squinted, muscles twitching sorely as two figures moved towards him.

What are they doing to me?

Cold hands gripped his arms and dragged him across the floor, something wet sticking to his clothes as he bathed in it, feeling the heavy metal chain's weight lift from his foot.

"Ah, Jonathan," a voice laughed. He couldn't pin point the source and his mind was buzzing with whispers. "I'm glad to see you're awake. Are you ready for your new day of training? This marks an anniversary, did you know that? It's been a long time..."

"Father, please..."

"There, there...my boy, you have a lot of potential. Come, I will feed you."

"Yes, please...please," he begged, his body lifted until he was barely on his feet, getting dragged once more down a hall.

"But first...you need to kill for me."

"What...what do you mean?"

"Here, I have your first prize. You get a whole glass of water for this one."

Water-"Okay." –I need water-"I'll do it."

"Good. Don't open your eyes okay?"

"Wh-why...?"

"It'll make it easier."

Jonathan's mouth hung slack, dry. He took a deep breath and pinpointed the quiet whimpers of his victim.

"Wait, please, mister," the small voice cried out, and his heart nearly stopped. "Did you kill my mommy?"

----

It had been nearly a year since Jonathan was taken. Rachel was held in strict custody and sent into brutal questioning month after month. Whatever Cruors they could hold prisoner, they did. And what was left of the Aecors rebuilt their hideout with newer technologies.

Evan sat at a table with papers laid out in front of him left and right, his pen tapping furiously on the surface. Brown eyes flitted back and forth between highlighted pieces of information and he sighed, aggravated.

"Get me water," he ordered, and someone quickly scampered off to fill him a cup. He continued to stare at the papers until the person returned and handed it to him, Evan thanking him quietly and placing the now empty cup on the corner of the documents.

"I don't get it," he mumbled, trying to match all the pieces together. "Everything I try to connect...there's just something missing. And wherever I look, he's not there..." A frown etched itself onto his face and he resisted throwing the papers across his desk.

Instead he stood up and gently piled the papers on top of each other, tossing his empty cup in the trash, and walked around the rebuilt underground base until he reached Luke's room. All his little objects and weapons were placed back on the shelves properly, a dim blue light shining to show that it was occupied. Luke himself was trying to spark something together, watching as a tiny laser shot out to a concrete block and left a hole entering up until halfway through, black and smoking.

"Hey Luke..."

"Anything new yet?"

"No..." Evan looked down at the floor and Luke sighed, waving him over to sit on his bed. Evan made himself comfortable on the mattress as it dipped below his weight and he lay down, hands behind his head.
