Hannah rushed Jordon to the dorm, telling her to get shower and get changed and that she’d tell her third period teacher what was going on. Jordon smiled gratefully and went into the bathroom. It wasn’t until after Jordon had started scrubbing her hair that she started to feel like crap. She could practically feel the depression trying to slip back into her mind. Jordon got out of the shower with a sigh, changing her clothes, and sat on the toilet, covering her face with her hands. She stayed like this for a while, just thinking and concentrating on not crying.
Jordon heard a small knock on the door, and her sister’s voice on the other side. “Jordon?” Hannah opened the door a crack, and looked in. Jordon swiped away the tears that had managed to slip out and cleared her throat. “I-I got something in my eyes.”
Hannah shook her head. “You’ve been crying Jordon.”
“No I haven’t.”
“Then why are your eyes red?”
“I told you—I got something in my eyes.”
“Then why are you shaking? Why—”
“JUST GET AWAY FROM ME OK?!” Jordon shouted jumping up and ignoring the fact that she stood butt-naked in front of her sister. “Maybe—maybe I don’t want your help. Maybe I just want to crawl into a little corner and—and just DIE. Maybe the reason I don’t want to be your friend is because I don’t deserve it. Maybe I’ve been contemplating suicide for the longest time and I—I’m afraid that if I’m really your sister, then when I do kill myself, you’ll hate me! Just—Just leave me alone. I’d rather have no friends and not hurt anybody than have a ton of friends and hurt everybody.”
Hannah took a step up and wrapped her arms around her sister. “I will never, ever, ever, EVER leave your side. You’re my best friend Jordon. Friends don’t hurt friends.” Jordon sighed. “Why don’t you just give up? I try to push you away, but you don’t listen.” Hannah chuckled. “Well that’s because I’m stubborn. I would never leave a friend behind. To put it in simpler terms, I don’t leave my sisters behind.” Jordon smiled. “I’m sorry. I was just really upset. I tend to explode when I get upset.”
Hannah smiled. “It’s alright Jordon. We’re friends—we can’t afford to have our relationship go to pieces because of some stupid girl am I right?” Jordon nodded.
“Now fourth period starts in about twenty minutes. What would you like to do?”
Jordon smiled broadly. “Do you have any Soul Eater DVDs?”
Hannah grinned just as broadly. “Well of course. Want to watch a few of them?”
“Does Death the Kid love symmetry?”
And with that, the two friends sat down on Hannah’s bed comfortably and spent the rest of the period watching Soul Eater together. It’s like I have a real family now. Jordon thought to herself with a smile. She loves me—and I love her right back.
Jordon yawned and stretched, glancing at the clock on her wall. 6:15. Jordon tossed and turned for a bit, trying to go back to sleep, for school started at 8:45, so they still had a while. In the end, however, Jordon ended up turning on the TV, stretching out on the bed, and watching Soul Eater until Hannah woke up around 7:15.
“How long have you been up?” Hannah asked with a yawn. Jordon grinned. “Since 6:15. By the way, you missed the episode where Spirit and Lord Death are holding little Medusa.” Hannah groaned. “But that was the best scene.” Jordon shrugged. “Deal with it Crona.” Hannah smiled at the new nickname. “But-But I don’t know how to deal with it!”
